*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Just seen what looks like (from the on screen control prompts) PS4 gameplay for AC4: Black Flag. Is it me or does it look a bit "meh"? Could be PS3 maybe?

it deffos looks meh especially the big islands in the background, probably ps3 but you never know. its like some of these new games are getting worse everytime they show us a new clip. watchdogs is another or it may be just me

Hopefully be in short supply, the 5 I'm hopefully getting (all ordered straight after announcement) could make more than I ever hoped for with this memory shortage ;)

/me waits for the hate
If you're buying 5 PS4's with the intention of selling them on for profit you deserve to get a lot of hate.

why? its a pretty sound investment, its no different to buying anything e.g gold and selling it a higher price, just with PS4s that higher price will be the day after release when no one can get one and I have 5 ;)

worked amazingly well for me on the 360 & PS3 launches, people were paying £1200 a piece on the 360 before christmas

You're forcing 5 people to pay more than they should simply because you want to make a bit of money. It's immoral IMO.

Its called profiteering MrMoonX - it makes you a ****, dont ever think no one else doesnt think you are neither :p

ps3ud0

Our entire society is based on profiteering in one way or another. I don't really see a problem with it. It's not like the consoles are hard to get hold of, they've been freely available to order for months.

I really hope there is no shortage and you get stung with trying to sell on 5 'nearly new' PS4's. That would be just desserts.

As it is there will almost certainly be shortage and you'll make a tidy profit while those who can't wait get stiffed on the price.

Yeah, but the PS4 has been sold out for a while now (or at least not guaranteed). It'll be the parents who want to buy it for Christmas who'll end up paying through the nose.

It sounds like a good idea to me lol, Whats wrong with making money from it...Its not really hurting anyone if there willing to buy them at an increased price. Its basic business really..Buying something at a retail price and selling it for a profit because of shortage and demand.
If i was running a business id happily do that all day every day if it made me a ton of money. Thats the idea isn't it?

I don't know what's worse; doing it, or openly admitting to it on a forum where he knows he's going to get harsh responses.

Dumb either way.

To be fair they're not being forced at all? Don't get me wrong I agree it's immoral, but if the person decides that they're going to buy it at a higher price and simply just not wait until it's back in stock then... :\

edit: of course in an ideal world nobody would have to wait because someone bought multiple systems with the intention of profiting.

So how many did you buy Shami?

Currently got 2 One's and 1 PS4 on order. The one's was mostly because I wanted to have them from two places just in case bundle options were different. I'll probably cancel one, might try and sell it if it looks like it's going to be worth it. PS4 I hadn't decided whether to get on launch day or not.

I remember when I accidentally (forgot I had it preordered elsewhere!) ordered two copies of Deus Ex Augmented edition and then sold the spare for how much both copies cost me!

I regret not selling the RDR collectors edition codes on launch day, they were going for loads on ebay despite the content being pretty pants :/

Resogun: Uses 50% of PS4's CPU; 8GB GDRR5 "necessary"

We asked him how the 8GB of GDDR5 RAM and unified architecture of the PS4 is helping the game to run at a slick sixty frames per second and glorious 1080P resolution, to which he replied:

“It is not just helping, it is necessary. With unified architecture we can easily split up our memory usage the way we want and still have fast GPU access to the bits written by CPU. We are using more memory than PS3 has in total just for the flying cubes! The GPU and compute shaders are also being heavily utilized for a lot of things.

“For example, all of the geometry generation (for the cubes and levels), the physics and collisions for the cubes, the particle mayhem you unleash with your Overdrive or Bomb; all of that is being done in compute shaders. There is still plenty of CPU power left over (currently we’re cruising at around 50% CPU usage during gameplay), but with the GPU and compute shaders doing all the fireworks, we do not really even need it,” he added.
