E39 M5 Short write up

I'd be tempted to get one, even if it was just for a year!!

You only live once and all that....

Can't justify it yet as the R1 is costly atm.

I must admit I'd love to own one but I'm too scared off the massive bills.

Agreed. He said it was particularly reliable for the most part, other than a hiccup at the start, but then further down the page admits that he only did 9,000 miles in 2.5 years. I think this *might* have had something to do with it.

I consider my mileage low, at 7,000 a year, but even in that time I'd have covered almost double his.

Still rather have the E34, but I can certainly see the appeal! :)

Agreed :D

As for the E39, what can really go wrong?

If it were mine, you can guarantee that due to the age it would need a full overhaul like my E36.

Anyone care to chime in with the cost of a full suspension overhaul? (springs, dampers, arms, mounts) and also if there are any engine weak spots?

My E36 has had the big end and shells done, the main weak link, and i did the vanos, because IMO a performance car is about the power and handling, so unless you renew all those parts, theres no point having the car.
