I've just updated to MH8 and it appears to have brought an additional security function. I use Keepassdroid and a warning has been displayed that it has had to stop. I'm then offered a policy update, but the server is unreachable.

It maybe coincidence, but it appears strange that this has occurred within 10 minutes of the update when the Keepassdroid app has not been launched.

why do you want to keep assdroid?

They didn't have much choice seeing as that mental $300 watch requires BT 4.0 low energy!
 
I think I am going to send my GS4 back. My signal and data is God awful! Plus every call I make generates echo for the other caller.
 
Are those known issues? I've been told that there is terrible echo when speaking to me on mine but I just ignored the person as they're a bit difficult.

I can also have no signal at all, unable to make calls but full 3G access and WiFi isn't connected.

What modem are you using? Can't remember my original one but it was awful for everything you described, after flashing MGA baseband it's been good.
 
i think the signal strength meter is a little fubored as i can have a hour long conversation on no bars of signal.

on a side not ive finally managed to flash a custom recovery so im now ready for a custom rom but have no idea what to go for lol. Or whether i need to change base bands etc.

Im a complete newbie at this.

oh and i now cant do OTA updates? is this because ive got Philz recovery installed?
 

We may see LTE-A some time next year so this is only for bragging rights. I would expect the S5 to have the capability.
 
I recall some PAC ROM users saying they get great battery life. Should I assume they don't have large partial wakelocks due to Google Services like me then :(

A bit of googling shows its quite common with 4.3 and location services and I don't see any solutions yet.
 
We were running the 4.2.2 build which has great battery life.

4.3 seems not so great reading come current comments on the PAC thread.
 
People kicking off over at XDA about the new update. It sounds like Samsung have become more aggressive in locking down the system with it including;

  • Blocking root
  • Changes the SELinux from permissive to enforcing (someone care to explain that)
  • Read only system
  • Constant 'Prevention information' errors about apps
  • Custom launchers are messed up because of the new permissions

It may be in preparation for KNOX. Some are even saying they are going to change to Sony if this continues - can't be said lightly ;):p
 
makes sense, this is in response to security concerns.. android is much less secure and the fact we all root and hack and flash and then try running banking apps perhaps points to the necessity for this.

Can't have it both ways I guess!
