I have a Vauxhall Corsa and the windows really need a clean. I've used a few household products but they don't work well and cause issues when water gets onto the windscreen.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend me some cleaner I can get in a store soon so I can give them a clean before I leave for work Sunday.

I'd also like to be able to take some stuff with me so I can clean it when I arrive at the hotel as motorway driving is a sure fire way to ruin your clean windows.

There's a massive, MASSIVE thread called "The Car Cleaning Thread".

But any household products are likely terrible for your car anyway, so just nip into halfords and get some Zymol Natural car shampoo, some Auto Glym Fast Glass, then a polish and wax of your choice.

Fast glass, some paper towels, and a clean microfibre cloth are all you need to clean your windows, and this can be done anywhere :)

Cheers, I'll try and grab some today. Couldn't really care less about cleaning the paintwork as I do about 500/600 miles in 4 days so it wouldn't be worth the effort.

However I can't see out of my windows very well atm so it needs to be done.

The best glass cleaner I've used is Meguiar's Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner. Fantastic stuff just dont use it on a hot day otherwise it will smear.

+1 for the fast glass, good results, not too expensive (can normally be bought in halfords in some sort of offer), bottle lasts absolutely ages.

Got two rolls of paper towels, two microfiber cloths and two bottles of fast glass from Halfords today for £20.

Hopefully it works and I don't need new wiper blades.

Wah your screen with car suds, and wipe the wiper blades with an old cloth until all the black comes off (soak this cloth in your suds first)

Then rinse with water. I like to add vinegar to some paper towels and wipe the screen and blades with this too. Then rinse off thoroughly with water (don't get vinegar on your paint work)

Now do a final pass with fast glass / some other glass polish

You should probably find household products work better than the car ones - mainly because they have ammonia in them and the car glass products don't. This is because ammonia can really damage window tints mainly.

I personally love the Autoglym FastGlass, that said you will struggle to get a good streak free finish on the windows without first at least vaguely cleaning the rest of the car. If you don't then chances are as you wipe with a microfiber it will keep pulling dirt from the edges of the windows onto the glass.
