Virgin Media Discussion Thread

U won't get lower than £25 a month. Virgin Media offered me £26 a month as I called up and complaint about price increasing. They say they cannot go lower than £26. But, instead offered me one off £30.00 credit on my account to cover that £2.50 a month increase. Job done.

I have heard of others paying less than £25 a month.

It still doesn't make any sense at all of why is virgin media charged £2.50 increasing even thought they can afford to give customers a £9 off a month for discount loyalty. It will cost virgin media lots more than the £2.50 increasing.

Seem bit daft isn't it?

Call sales (0800 1830123) as if you are a new customer and check to see if 120Mb is available at your post code and house number. If it is then you can get 120Mb today. I know Retentions have the ability to change it there and then, so you can request they do it if that is the case.

Its available but due to an offer i took when i moved in with a tripple play pack of XL TV Phone and internet i cant upgrade without £13 a month on the account

booo

Any chance it'll improve latency? Since my SH2 install and 60mb upgrade my latency is all over the place:

Actually we have / trialists have seen an improvement on the TBB Charts in general. Actual latency issues can be numerous depending on servers etc, that's a little more difficult to control with a firmware update.

But overall we have seen improvements on V26.

Called to complain about the £2.5 increase on my £22.5p/m 30MB line and instead of going up to £25 in October it will be £20.50p/m :)

that's a helluva deal 100mb for 25pm. I spent ages on retentions while they looked at what they could offer, which ended up being just bog standard deal.
Finally settled on 60mb broadband and phone line for 29.99, and will pay the phone line up front, so saving a fiver a month. Getting SKY basic package with 12 months half price for £10.75 and a £25 M&S voucher.

I just called them and now I'm paying £79 a month for 120MB BB, 2 x 1TB TiVo boxes with XL TV and Unlimited anytime phone calls.

This sound ok, I have 24Hrs to accept apparently ?

at the moment since just before May, i'm paying £39.61 for 120Mb, M+ TV with tivo 500gb and V HD boxs, M phone with 08 £5 add-on.

but once my internet connection is fixed it'll go up by £25 but tbh that won't be happening for a very long time.

After all that I get a call from VM who will give me 60MB + M+ + Tivo + landline for 38 a month, £1 less then sky and £20 credit. Should have made up some SKY deal and they probably would have given me more. Oh well, at least I got faster internet for all that hassle.

Beware of virgin customer relation over the phone. Cos once they promise you a good deal discount loyalty and 7 days later a letter arrive that a promise deal is lied.

I was offered £26 for 12 month with £9 off discount loyalty over the phone with 7 days cooling off.

7 days later, letter arrive a copy of agreement offer with discount loyalty. It say on the letter. Discount Loyalty £5 a month off (12 months contract) loyalty docount for 24 months.

Standard 120 Meg £35.00 with after discount total to pay £30.00 a month. They lied about £9 off. I phone up and cancel it but Virgin Media say they had no record of £9 deal on the account no calls is recording. And now cannot cancel it as the 7 days cooling off already passed. P***** of now. Not happy From october I had to pay £2.50 extra on top of £30.

 Im really not surprised..they have done this to me before..gave us one price on a package..i said il have a think and talk to the family..then the VERY next morning we agreed the package was good and so i phoned them up..only for them to say that there was no such deal, and denied that anyone from VM would have offered such a package..complete crap.

Im considering doing away with VM when my contract runs out and going Sky..they don't offer as fast internet (in my area yet)...but at least they wont slow down my connection to the point where i cant even watch Twitch.

im still having issues watching Twitch streams,Complained on their forums and they don't want to know.
I bet they would soon be in touch if i failed to pay the bills. :D

That's the thing, if you get offered a deal over the phone either make a decision there and then or get them to make a note on the account :)

Similar thing happened to me a while ago, since then I've been getting them to make a note on the account if I don't take the deal.

Yes, good advice.I always do this, plus it's very straight forward for me to record all my calls, which I do for every utility call.
