Outlast - New horror game

Well i plucked up the courage to get it and have a go last night (managed to convince the missus that she was a wimp if she didn't watch me play)

My nerves were wrecked before i even got out of the car, as i approached the building she started to shows signs of bugging out.. her hands were digging into my sides..

I being the manly man that i am told her to sort it out, when really all i wanted was my system to crash and/or blow up.

Got into the building and used the camera's night vision for the first time and started creeping about, by which point i was utterly bricking it and had enough.

Queue me sneakily hitting ALT F4, a torrent of lies from me about how the game is still in beta and prone to crashes and the crappiest excuse while in bed as to why we should keep the lights on..

Time to change my name to danielle i think :D

anyone sussed how to remove the grain totally ?

tried a few tweaks and its still there :(

Go to BasEngine file in the outlast folder and find this line

ImageGrainNoiseTextureName=

delete any text after the =

I did this with Hawken and it worked well, haven't tried with outlast though.

Helix has been working on the 3D vision fix for this. Already has most sorted in a patch you can find on this thread on geforce forums clicky

I just made my mum sit through a certain cutscene with 3d vision on and she thought it was awful and asked me how I could play a game like this :)

The scares do get less frightening the more you play. 3d really does add to it, that's for sure but I will never get used to the intense thrill you get when someone chases you!! :(

I'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to PC gaming, but can this game be got for cheaper than £14.99?

It's not on greenmangaming or cjs, but I'm not sure if those "lower budget/independent" games ever appear on other places but Steam?

Huge horror fan so this looks right down my street, and I'm happy to pay 14.99 for it, but of course if I can get it cheaper then that is even more down my street.

Also, anyone got an idea roughly how long this game last? Not rushed I mean, I take my time in these sorta games.

Took me about 5 hours over 2 sessions, without replaying segments a lot I doubt it would last anyone much over 6.

Why are some taking out the grain in this game, it's what gives it that type of playing atmosphere, allways have to fiddle don't you. :p

hahaha !! nice post 'Danielle' !!

My lady friend always bangs on about how games can never be scary or immersive so I think I'll force her to play it first come payday ;) .. obviously I wouldn't be afraid... at all...

Im not one to scare easily but I've just screamed like a girl on the first scare. my lass came in the room to see if I was okay. oh the shame of it :$

Thanks :D
Since this post i've managed two further sessions lasting about 12mins :( it's just too much for me lol.
I'm getting through it but it's just getting worse! haha.

I am going to play this in 3D with lightouts in 1h or so, no messing about. :D

Just started to see how it was, looks great, atmosphere is brilliant and it feels just right for a horror game.(i've seen SO much scarey films....Korean/Thai ones too so i have a good view of horror related things)

The main thing is it's 1st person too like Amnesia which in my view adds to the effect aswell.
