FIFA 14 Thread

It is dissapointing that it won't be having ignite engine, although I will still get it as im big fan of the game having bought year by year.

another damn for pc gamers, I was hoping gta v would be coming to pc around the same time as consoles and I was also hoping to get a decent version of fifa on pc. I'm trying to justify not having to buy another console but these developers make it difficult :(

Yeah this year ill be going back to Fifa on console (PS4) simply for the Ignite Engine and will likely be one of the few games I actually play on my PS4.

I buy Fifa every year.....definetley one of my favourite franchises.

I'm buying PC and PS3 version of the game since I think it'll finally have cross platform support?

Also I want to play alongside my son hopefully we'll be able to do that now?

Even if not the PC version of FIFA 13 looks much better than the console and loads about 50% faster :D

No there's no cross platform support, doubt there ever will be in FIFA.

And neither was FIFA.

FIFA was just like some kind of 'Regent'. In power cos it had the big bucks backing it.

Indeed, I fell for all the tripe about FIFA being awesome, was it anything but, they spend mega bucks on marketing an anti-football game. Honestly I can't stand that junk after 2 years of wasting my money, never again. Just have to hope PES 14 lives up to its expectations.

I know.....I could never really get the hype with FIFA. Granted, EA have done a great job with all thier tricks, silky smooth animations, and the variety of ways in which the ball can be played around the park, but in doing so, it seems that they neglected (or lack the ability) to implement an intelligent AI system to represent the game of football.

Last time I was playing FIFA 13 was on my last job on a 360 in the dayroom. I was playing a league on World Class, and having played 3 games, and being half way through the 4th, I got bored. Not wanting to turn off the console and lose my progress, I just put the gamepad down and wandered of to canteen for a snack. I arrived back expecting the AI to have scored 4-5 in my absence. However, much to my astonishment, the score was the same as when I left, the clock had almost ticked right down, my player was facing away from goal, sheilding the ball, and the CPU controlled players were just standing around waiting on the human player to make the next move. That is how poor the AI on FIFA really is. That is why the game feels so static and predictable, and why the gameplay is so damn repetitive, and why the goals are generally all the same.

Pro Evo 2013 never really done it for me either though. Overall it was a decent and exciting game, but any footie title that doesn't allow for crossing the ball and meeting with header as a viable way to score, can gtf as far as I am concerned.

Yep agreed, apart from the bold bit, there is only one way to play fifa and that is crappy direct football using pace abuse and such. There is no way of playing passing and possession football and building up play.

I am saying that it is possible to play the ball around in a great variety of ways in FIFA, not that it is beneficial to do so if you are interested in actually winning. In PES, it is pretty much carpet football or go home. Any attempt to play any other kind of ball will simply result in losing possession.

Some pro clubs footage and a little info about pro clubs in the second video ...

Still a 200mph kick and rush bore fest. :)

been playing the demo and i have to be honest, i am enjoying it. It's still not a day one buy for me though, but i will pick it up when it drops to £20 like i did with fifa 13 :D

Then you two are obviously completely useless at this game, my online seasons record is 39-3-9 with 7 promotions on the bounce (it was even better on the xbox) and i rarely use long through balls, many of my goals come from build up play starting at the back. I play with all different teams, some fast some slow.
The only problem with fifa 13 is rage quitters and a few mad moments with the physics now and again.

I am really enjoying it so far. I noticed the font has changed in the menus and ingame. I also don't mind that it is slower - in fifa 12 and 13 I always changed the game speed to slow, as I felt it was too unrealistic at any higher speed, so I am quite pleased about the change in speed.
