Was anyone else at the MCM Scotland comic convention at the SECC in Glasgow today? There was early access tickets available to get in from 9.30am, or general tickets to get in from 11am. I arrived at about 10.50 and there was already a hell of a long queue.
And it very quickly got even longer behind me. Several hundred people longer.
Actually did I say several hundred? Probably closer to a thousand! The queue went right round the front of the SECC, snaked around back and forth a few times and then went off down the road well past the Rotunda! It took me just over 2 hours to get inside from where I joined. I pity the poor sods who were joining at the end from this pic...
Giant inflatable minion ftw!
Anyway I did get in and after a look around I made my way towards the back at the main stage, in time to catch Bruce Boxleitner and Mira Furlan's Q&A.
Sorry for the crap quality picture. Snagged a seat in the 6th row. Not bad position. Was interesting hearing them talk about their work in the science fiction industry, Babylon 5 and some other stuff. I also watched the Warwick Davis Q&A afterwards, but didn't take his pic as I was too busy filming it on my iphone. Didn't bother to stay to watch the Q&A with the guys from Merlin, since I dont watch that show.
I caught up to both of them again a while later when they were doing autograph signing. £15 to get one. Each mind you!
Cha Ching!
I also picked up a few things for myself. A cool Casino Royale poker chip keyring. Also a copy of the Copperbones key and the map from the Goonies. I was very tempted to get a framed copy of the Sports Almanac from Back to the Future 2, but decided against it.
I HAD to get this though. The Star Wars "movie" that even George Lucas was too ashamed to release? Gotta be worth a watch
And this cupcake was just lovely! SsssssssssssSSSSSSSSSS!!!! KABOOM!!!
There was a chance to get a photo with a Tardis, complete with Davros and K9. I didn't do it though.
I like this guys style!
The look on the guys face getting the photo taken made me laugh!
I would have loved to have bought this! It was probably insanely expensive though. And god only knows where I would put it... But how COOL is that?!
So many comics! So little time!
And finally I bought these on my way out. Never tried Pocky before. And really cheap! Only £1 each and £1.50 each for the Hello Panda's.
Left about 20 minutes before the end of the convention at 5pm. By then I was fairly worn out. Considering it was only £6 to get in this was a really good day! Next time though I would pay the extra to get the early access ticket. That would have saved waiting in line so long and also I'd have had time to go in, poke around for a while, go for lunch and then come back again for the afternoon.
