More to follow just too slow to type on phone

Nice. Have to say the Gallardo was my dream car until I actually experienced being in one. Even at 180ish mph it didn't feel special inside at all.

Pfft that is nothing. I test drove a Honda CR-V today AND a Mazda CX-5.

From the dials, I believe he is in the aventador not the gallardo.

Unless you were just making a general statement, in which case fair enough :p

You may have a good point, I was going off of the picture of the newish Gallardo closest to the camera (it might not even be one now I look at it) and the idea that they surely must have updated the dashboard from the 2004 one, which was terrible.

Indeed it's an Aventador:

Spent last week in Italy supporting a customer events which involved a tour of the Lamborghini Factory and the carbon fibre facility as well as a driving experience at Imola. I was lucky enough to also have a go in the Aventador around the famous Imola track. The best part was the experience of being alone in the car, literally given the keys and told to follow the instructor driven pace car.

Video of 2 laps, seems so calm in the video but I can assure you it's quite brutal with 4wd and 700hp on tap from the 6.5 V12, even with 4wd and 30C+ temperatures the traction control was kicking in. They come standard with 400mm carbon ceramic disks so driving it for a few laps was a bit of a sensory overload as well as redefining whats possible in a car.
You end up going into corners much faster than you think, panic a little bit as the £300k car you are driving seems to be going for the gravel, but the brakes pull the car up effortlessly and you feel like you could have braked later.

Ohlins pushrod dampers are more race car than road car and the levels of grip are immense.

I whimped out and didn't try corsa mode but here's two laps (second one is when the instructor goes for it)

Awesome car, mega money but think it would be definately part of my garage if my numbers came in. The noise and presence is beyond anything else I think, even the Veyron.

Some other pics:

Aventador naked - watched this being built the day before - they make 4.5 cars a day. Full carbon tub with the spaceframe holding the engine on the back. The rear quarters are actually plastic.

Sesto Elemento (and a wall mounted Aventador)

Super Trofeo - Had a passenger ride in this which was mental

LP570-4 Superleggera

Aventador Roadster, a cool €474k as it was below. Looked awesome in the flesh.

Another Super Trofeo car (have enough money and you can race in this series!) This experience is part of the squadracorse offer and the team's GT3 race driver was also at the event (he gave our group the tour of the factory)

These kind of events are amazing when us mere mortals blag our way in, a real insight to how its not all that different just turned up by so much!

I was out with some friends on Sunday and they were all in cars to die for. Standing there contemplating with a mate who was trying to decide what next, Macca or Lamborghini Superleg and after various sitting in still wasn't convinced either way. Then both started their engines and we simply looked at each other and said Lamborghini! The noise of satan and good god it sounded epic. I'm sure I can still hear it.
