Two GTX 780 FTW cards would the i7 2600k Bottleneck them ?

All so what PSU would I need to run them ,I am using right now 750w cooler master silent pro that's running two GTX 670 FTW cards .

With

* i7 Intel 2600k
* 2xGTX670FTW
* 2xSSD OCZ Agility 3 RAID 0
* 1xSSD 840 PRO
* 1xHitachi
* 1xraptor
* Asus Xonar STX

Might be a silly question, but is their ANYTHING that your 670s can't handle atm? Seems like a great setup for current and near-future games...

My only real game that I play at the moment is BF3 all on ultra 4XAA 1920x1080 ,But I get slow downs some time when there is massive explosions and load of smoke I don't no why was thinking it was the cards ,All so trying to get better FPS for 120HZ MONITOR as there are a lot dips in the fps ,I think that as a lot to do with the game being so open ,no matter what I change in the GFX setting nothing really give's me more FPS low is the same as ultra ,Which is really strange ,You would think by lowing all the GFXs would give you more FPS .But then the GFXs look really bad .Ultra is the only way to really enjoy BF3 ,But BF4 will be out soon and I think its going to be needing more hose power .But yeah your right the cards are amazing and can play all game's pretty well ,

Is your cpu running stock frequencies?

4.6Ghz

Well...if the only game you play atm is bottlenecking the 670s, then 780s would be no different! :D Pretty sure my 6/12 CPU struggles to keep +100FPS whilst playing BF3 64man lobbies.

On my crossfire system there is almost no visual difference between high or ultra that i have been able to note. Also performance is about the same. Only option that does make a difference is Mesh Quality and the changes there is very obvious. Try and change that and if the fps doesnt change its not a CPU bottleneck you are having but a driver problem i would think.

4.6ghz is actually a pretty decent sweetspot with sli'd 670's, particularly in bf3. Had a 3770k at 4.5ghz with mine, i got occasional drops to 80fps in hectic situations on 64 player maps. Also, the b2k maps seem to be badly coded as they give drops quite often. But with multi gpu's, an i7 chip really does improve bf3, my old 3770k was an upgrade from a 3570k as it was a bottleneck in this game at 4.5ghz.

Well when monitoring the CPU with task manager the CPU never uses more the 50% on all cores or threads how is that bottle necking ?

Wouldn't it be 100% if its bottlenecked RIGHT! on all cores or threads ?

But seeing as the GTX780 have more power I was wondering if maybe they may get bottle necked so I am still not to sure unless some one here is using i7 2600k with 2x780s .

Fair enough, didn't think of 120Hz tbh

Yeah that would be the only reason TBH for me changing .

Doesn't always work like that, looking at your GPU usage gives a better indication of a CPU bottleneck, dips to mid 90s is pretty normal, you should be looking for the <90% usage.

I'll download BF3 in a couple mins, get these two 670s SLI'd and see what kind of FPS i get with a 4Ghz 6/12 and a 5Ghz 6/12 CPU (3930k)

If you are getting the same FPS drops on low and ultra then the only answer is cpu bottleneck. BF3 multiplayer is very cpu dependent. You will not be able to get a solid 120fps all the time with lots of action on screen no matter what graphics cards you have.

its funny how we used to be super happy if we got 30 fps in a game, hell our eyes cant tell a difference between 25-35 FPS (And examples of proof would be that james cameron hobbit @ 42 fps = animation looked really weird)

ps. you tried to see if your cores are parked?

The fact it looked....weird, is proof you can tell the difference lmao.
If it didn't look any different however.

Also your eyes don't view in "FPS" more a constant stream of photons hitting the back of the retina (information) so if you can hit your eyes with more information (higher refresh) then yes, you can tell the difference.

On a subjective bases, i couldn't not game on a 120hz monitor anymore. The difference between <120 is just too much.

It's not a CPU bottleneck, its just BF3 isn't very good with Crossfire/SLI with GPU usage. Bf4 will hopefully change this, they been show casing the game so far running on a 7990 witch is crossfire 7970 so things looking good.

Its not really about seeing, why you think watching films, TV, Youtube 25/30fps looks smooth.
Once you pick up a Mouse or controller you can feel the game's motion, this is where 120fps vs 60fps comes into play.

So to wrap it up when someone says 120hz is better its not about seeing at all we Humans dont see in frames we dont have camera as eyes :p
What we do see is Motion and the feel of motion is why 120fps feels different to 60/30fps

64 player caspian border is a great map for showing cpu/gpu usage. Typically on my old 3770k at 4.5ghz, cpu use was about 65%, gpu use at 90% +. Yet to try bf3 with the cpu in sig overclocked.
