Anyone have a 2013 Subaru BRZ?

I'll see how it goes. I've enjoyed the MX5 but I do fancy a change and there are some minor things about it that annoy me - the ride is quite busy (lowered, I know, but has always been a bit rattly), I've never been a big fan of the clutch/gearbox even after much adjusting and I fancy a bit more room and a few more modern touches. Hoping the GT86 will bring me that while still being good fun.

Also, at 7 years old and 114K miles, I'm starting to feel that 'tiredness' from the car - its mechanically fine, but there's the odd rattle and scratch on the inside, a few door dings and stone chips which I notice more and more often.

Ive cancelled tomorrows test drive in the TRD. Because I've seen what I think is a pretty good deal on a standard model that looks to be fully specced (leather and nav).

It's an ex-demo with only 300 miles on the clock up for a good price so I'm going to look at that one instead....if all goes well, I might well snatch it up. My only concern is it's in white; I think they look good in white, but it wasn't my first colour choice.

Is it the pearl white colour? It's pretty nice in the flesh if so....but orange...

Yup, pearl white. I'm not usually taken with white cars, and I prefer a bit of a darker colour for that deeper look. But it doesn't look bad, and hopefully after a couple of years, white will hide any potential swirls and scratches a little.

I would have preferred the blue, but I've barely seen any used approved ones; so I'm willing to go with a white one considering the spec and price.

I think you might like it. I'm not a fan of white but they had a white one at the local dealership a little while back, and up close it's quite nice. Looks 'premium'!

Indeed. As it happens, I've probably only seen 4 or 5 of these on the roads since they came out...and I don't recall seeing one that wasn't white.

Welp....I went there, tried it and made an offer :D

Crappy phone pics but you get the idea.

Full spec (full leather, sat nav, heated seats), ex-demo model with only 300 miles on the clock. New it would have been around £28K, I got it for £22100. I don't think that's too shabby for a top spec car that's essentially new - it's as cheap or cheaper than a lot of other used approved ones I'd seen that weren't as well specced and had a lot more mileage on them. Just under 4 and a half years left on the warranty too.

Unfortunately it needs to have all its checks and valet carried out so I couldn't take it today, but it should be ready midweek. Going to be the slowest week of my life, can't wait :D

1.6 turbo engines seem to be in vogue at the moment I suspect a 1.6 or 1.8 with turbo would make this a more interesting car than the boggo rngine currently offered. Still, looks good but goes bad:/

I think that's a little unfair. To dismiss the car as uninteresting based solely on the modest engine is missing the point, I feel.

On the contrary, it's been designed to be very interesting - excellent sharp handling, fantastic driving position, not a bad noise from the motor. There's more to the driving experience than outright power, as cars like the MX5 proved.

I know everyone who reviews the car says the same thing - a little more power wouldn't go amiss. But I guess it's all subjective; for people like me, with modest driving abilities who want to be able to enjoy driving a car without going mad, then it has enough power to satisfy. I assume you and others are used to much more power so will always consider it needing more, but it hardly 'goes bad'.

EDIT: That said, I wouldn't be surprised if forced induction kits became available at a later date, especially given the engine being a Subaru design, to satisfy any requests for more ooomph.

Thing is with a base 200bhp turbo charged engine you can easily get it mapped, up the boost etc and get more bhp very easily. As you will know, it very difficult to get any more meaningful out of the current engine without a forced induction kit.

Plus the 1.6 might even be lighter than the existing engine I don't know.

The kits are already available to an extent, just checkout fensport or similar, they have some 250+ engine parts ready to go.

I doubt I'll be partaking in modifications like that, not for a long time. The car is still a fair upgrade for me, with more power, toys and refinement.

Perhaps after a few years of ownership we'll see :)

Seems cheap for only 300miles... Also surprising that an ex-demo would only have 300miles on!

I know - to be honest I was a bit suspicious about the price, I even emailed and asked if the car had been used for test drives etc as I was worried that it may have been thrashed by other potential buyers.

But the salesman I spoke to told me they'd snapped it up from Toyota as an ex-demo and that he thinks it might have been used as a show car at their HQ or motorshows, etc. I was the first person to test drive it.

I was still a bit skeptical but the car is immaculate inside and out, and I'll be the first name on the log book. To all intents and purposes, it's brand new for a used price. And given that it still has most of it's warranty left and is coming from a Toyota dealer, I'm not too worried now.

Car looks brilliant Dave, can't wait to see it in the flesh :)

Thanks, I'll give you a shout sometime after I've picked it up. I cannot wait, I'm basically sitting around twiddling my thumbs at the moment; no doubt it will be a slow few days at work as well :D

Well done in buying the car.
I have had mine 6 months now it is pearl white but no extras
I have been over the moon with mine and get ready for total strangers asking about the car.

I imagine you have joined the GT86 owners forum

Every time i get in it I smile
