Hi all, Ive just updated my pc with some new parts. and done a clean sweep of windows. I've now come to install my graphics drivers.. all goes well but then when my pc restarts and comes to the Windows logo. I get a blue screen of death!

I can't work this out!

My system....

Maximus IV Hero
Intel 4770k
HD 7970 x 2
Corsair HX 850w
Geil EVO Corsa 2x4gb

Thanks in advance.

I will find out once ive finished installing my windows updates.
I formatted windows again as i realised when i put my new SSD in and installed windows on to it I also forgot to format my old Hard drive! Doh!

you installed windows in ahci mode if your using an ssd? it probably defaults to ahci anyway but makesure

or try booting in ide mode, that's the only bsod I know at start screen

EDIT:nvm:p

it will be in ahci as its default setting

ide is slower for ssd's and blue screens at start screen if you install in ide and change after to ahci, that's what I thought it was but you've found the issue now

no

sorry im confused,

did you set the ssd as first boot device? if its crashing while you installed drivers it could be unstable, that could be anything so id flash to latest bios and enable xmp if your memory supports it in the bios

Find out the stop code of the BSOD. That will narrow it down a bit. If you're overclocking stop until you find the cause.

Im not over clocking until i get my mounting pack for my noctua which ive lost! So if it blue screens this time ill get the stop code! will it be at the bottom of the BSOD?

And should I go to device manager and uninstall VGA drivers before installing my ati ones? incase any one missed that post with my bombardment of replies! Sorry!

Yes. Clean all the old Nvidia drivers before installing the AMD ones. See if the problem persists

No blue screen! Yippee! NOw i have another question! What is XMP? Is it better enabled? Because my mobo allows me to do it!?}

Also do i need to sync both my GPU's to same clock or is it done auto?
