32inch tv as a gaming monitor?

Hi guys I'm hoping someone could advise me here,

I've recently won a brand new Panasonic 2013 model (TX-L32E6B) 32inch tv (I know, Woohoo! hehe). I'm also thinking of upgrading my pc gaming rig in the near future and I suspect I will be buying something here at Overclockers.

All I'm wondering is would this screen be suitable for pc gaming? the likes of WoW, Battlefield 4 in the future etc. I have a Samsung 22 inch at the moment, so I'm wondering if anyone would have a clue if it would be better or worse? We have a very good 40 inch tv downstairs so if it wouldn't work for gaming in my bedroom I would probably end up just selling it on ebay.

Thanks for any advice!

I would think it would be fine, but you'd need quite a bit of space if you are gaming on it. The closer you are, the harder it would be to take it all in, so a good viewing distance is important.

What would be your budget & what is the spec you have currently?

Thanks for the replies, and Ooh you've really got me raising my eyebrows now! - I was saving up to update my rig, the money might now be going on a little sunshine break in November with my gf, so I might have to ask Santa or save up a little longer, but I guess I'd be happy to spend up to £1500.

My current rig is a q6600 oc'd at 3ghz, a GTX280,4gb ram in an Antec 1200 tower. It's served me very well, but I'd love to get my hands on something more in the range of 16gb ram (the faster the better, my current ram is at 667mhz or something dreadful), the fastest intel processor I can afford (unless there's some amd stuff that is awesome) 5ghz please?, definitely an ssd drive (I keep seeing a Toshiba one that's 60gb, any good?) and then I guess I get a big 2-3tb Seagate drive for everything else.

Windows 8 is poo from my experience on my parent's laptop, so probably win7, and possibly a bluray writer.

Graphics I'm not fussed on sli, so just a big fat single card (Would prefer Nvidia). Maybe a 770/780 oc'd version or anything else you'd recommend?

No idea if I'd want/need watercooling, but that's about it really I guess. I'd primarily be using it for WoW, Battlefield games etc.

I have been toying with the idea of building a machine myself or possibly buying a system bundle and trying to fit it into my tower etc. but I don't know if I want all the hassle!

Thanks again for the advice, I really appreciate it! how do you guys suppose the tv I've got would fair against something like the Benq xl2720t or a proper monitor like that? - I hear what you're saying about the size of a 32inch, and I might still have to sell it to pay for this holiday! hmmm.

Also what monitors are you guys using at the moment? how would they compare to this tv? will I get ghosting or lag if it's not 2-3ms? etc.

Cheers CHAPS!! hopefully I haven't disappointed you both :D

OP hope you like a black and orange theme.

I use a 32" samsung TV as a gaming monitor.Works brilliantly and I would never want to go back to a smaller screen!

To come from the other side of the coin, I use a cheap FullHD 32" TV as my main screen, and do miss the resolution that would come from a monitor in a slightly smaller size.

Gaming is ok, but it's irritating having my small second monitor with 1680x1050 21" when the 32" is only 1920x1080. Disparity in text size/wallpaper between the two is pretty bad. When I upgrade I'll probably switch the pair of them out for a matched set with a higher resolution.

ETA: TV is a Hannspree one.

Don't go overkill on GFX if you have an E6 Panasonic. It makes you forever locked to 50/60hz and 1080p.

Even a 760 will run all games, except maybe BF4 and crysis3, on full 60fps.

As for ghosting, enable "Game mode" if it has such to avoid that. That said, it is a cheap TV with a crap-ish panel so it depends how picky you are in the end.

I use a 32" samsung TV as my main screen, still 60fps but works great compaired to my old 2232BW.
