I might have to make this into the place where I rant when I'm annoyed about smite haha. Firstly, having a 1v1 against he bo is horrible, especially when you get slightly
Outlevelled :(

What acc level are you out of curiosity?

When I was in the mid acc levels I found a lot of imbalance in the match making. Sometimes there would be people who were a lot higher acc level than the rest of the team so while I was still learning the ropes it got frustrating to get owned. It got a lot better at 30 as you build up a wider sample of games the system can use to determine a more realistic skill level, but it still was anything but perfect when I last played.

I got pretty good, usually would get at least 1.5/1 most games at level 30 which isn't bad at that level. But even after 1000 games played, there would be occasional games where I'd get some real lowbies who went 0-15 (usually if they were partied with another 30), then sometimes I'd get matched with some of the top EU players.

To read up on builds etc http://www.smitefire.com/ is rather good for that.

Make sure you're careful, though. I don't really advoate these build sites. Your build really should depend on how your team is set up, and the opponents you're agaisnt. They're good for reading up on items and messing around with build though. I saw a ridiculous one a while ago for Ao mid lane, ended up with something stupid like 800 magic power at the end of build with loads of HP and a good amount of magic pen.

Going straight for a pre-determined build can do more harm than good sometimes. That's a mistake I used to see a lot, for example when we were agaisn't 4 magic and a bruiser, some players would still build in a generic way, e.g. tanks going for half magic protect and half phys protect.

Nah I was just going to read up on items that suit my play style, and such I've only had one game so didn't even look I just noticed it had an auto-buy feature and let it do what it wanted with the recomended items and they seemed okay.

But I would never fully absorb a build written on the net, especially if it's boring for me lol

rather have fun playing and loosing then be bored and winning.

Just a tip at the risk of sounding patronising and a know it all - but the reccomended builds are truly awful. It's as if Hi-Rez is trolling new players. I really wouldn't go for one unless you're really stuck!

Yeah, like i said I didn't even get to look at the shop/items yet so I'm sure there are items there that will go with exactly how I want the stats to be boosted :)

Im level 18 as of now at the mo. I play almost purely Loki, have about 600 kills with him I think. I used to play almost all Conquest but now I play Arena, it is a lot less serious and more fast paced which I like.

Damn you Hi-Rez,

Smite is my first forray into the world of MOBA's, so I'm a complete n00b when it comes to any and all theory. I had to look up what MP5 meant earlier today. Hearing people talk about builds and it depending on who you're playing with/against is just going straight over my head.

this isn't entirely true. When I play Loki I start with the following:

Conquest

heartseeker
warriors tabi
voidblade

Arena

Warriors Tabi
Voidblade
Jutunns wrath

These are all in either starter items or popular i think

I do very well with these. My average score in arena is something like 12-3 (recently anyway)

Ahh, ok. I never played much Arena to be honest, always loved the seriousness of conquest! That's one of the beauties of this game, even though each God only has 4 abilities, the third person nature makes it always so diverse so never gets boring. After you're comfortable with the abilities, you still have to learn how to combat every single god which takes a long time. Then you have another 30 odd Gods to do the same with.

But the inherent problem with following a reccomended build is that it's the same no matter what your or the emeny set up is. And the active's they pick are dire too, which a big part of the game.

Just play, enjoy and learn as you go...

that's what I do, loosing is part of the game ;)

Who would you suggest are good starting gods?

Gods that don't rest on hitting one ability (Anubis and his 2 for example), and those that aren't purely reliant on skill shots. Saying that, my first god was Anubis, once you master the skill shot he's awesome, especially low level when other people are still trying to learn the game. Ymir is always a good one, and he's a lot of fun.
