Hi All.

Can someone please advise with the following:

I have a radeon HD 6550D onboard gpu

I seen on youtube it could be crossfired with HD 6670 dedicated card.

Its all set up but the windows experience index score and furmark score show the performance as being worse with both cards fitted in crossfire than just running the one.

Surely its meant to be double the speed now i have 2 gpus running???

Thanks,

1) Running crossfire

2) dedicated card Hd 6670 running on its own

There is a benchmark test on mafia 2... could i run this under both conditions and see which one gives the highest fps??

The card running on its own so far is running at an average of 28-29 fps

Thanks,

Ok here we go:

dedicated graphics card = 29fps

the 2 gpu's crossfired = 23-24 fps

Im shocked.

Could anyone give me an idea why this could be??

Thanks,

I'm not too clued up on the APU, however can you disable the graphics and just run the graphics card on it's own? If so, try that and post back the results, it could be down to the APU holding back the dedicated.

Hi. If i set pci slot in bios and let windows load, test the mafia 2 game i get 29fps.

If i set the bios to onboard, and load the pc, in amd vision engine control centre ( dual graphics mode is automatically enabled), i try the same game and only 23-24fps.

cheers,

Hi again.

So after using Heaven Benchmark I found the following:

1) onboard gpu =
FPS:
6.2
Score:
156
Min FPS:
3.3
Max FPS:
13.9

2) dedicated gpu =
FPS:
9.0
Score:
227
Min FPS:
4.8
Max FPS:
19.8

3) xfire both onboard and dedicated =
FPS:
12.8
Score:
321
Min FPS:
7.3
Max FPS:
30.0

So thanks very much for your help with this benchtest. You were right not to believe the windows experience index score.
Can I ask apart from fitting a more powerful graphics card, is there anything else I can do to up the fps??

Cheers,
