Hey guys,

I currently have a Sapphire 1GB 7850 in my machine and was wondering if its worth upgrading to either a 7950/670?

Usually i'd be ok with my current card but having seen the Battlefield 4 recommended specs i'm starting to think it may struggle.

At the moment i only really play the odd game of Battlefield 3/TF2 but will be picking up BF4, COD Ghosts and Titan Fall in the future.

If it is worth it which is better to go for? (Or any other card that you may recommend!)

Many thanks

bf4 aparrently has a recommened gram of 3gb to play on the high settings.

Seen as the new amd cards are just around the corner I would personally hold off till then

Depends how much you're willing to spend too. I doubt the new cards will be bargaintastic for a while, though they be priced well against the opposition.

i honestly think this 3gb vram is complete and utter marketing BS, we dont know AT all what the final product will be like. Most of this information has come from wild speculation and the system requirements they let out for BF4, both suggesting a card with 2gb vram as recommended (Da ****?) Overall if you are willing to drop AA down by a point then a 670 will cope fine! (There is a 4gb 670, it cant use All of the 4gb to its fullest potential but its still a fantastic card)

personally im on a 1gb card so a 670 2gb will be a huge improvement for me, though im probably going with the 4gb asus 670 for the lols

the 7950 will also do fine! so really its upto you , do you want to stick with what you know or give Nvidia a try ? (670 overclocked is a beast still to this day)

also a lot of preliminary information is based off the alpha as such it gives no basis on the final game. and of course this is all dependant on what res you play at :)

Cheers guys. I have an i5 3450 :)
The issue I can see with this CPU is that for BF4 multiplayer, it would most likely to become a bottleneck since you can't overclock it.

With that said, I think you best bet is probably a 7950 at under £200, however if you are saving up till next month, you could probably get a 9950 (or whatever AMD's gonna call it) for under £350 hopefully.

Between 7950 or GTX670, there's no reason at all to go for the GTX670 unless you were a huge Nvidia fan or need Nvidia specific features. This is because regardless if how people keep banging 2GB isn't gonna be a issue, it still absolutely make no sense in terms of logic to get a card with 1GB less vram and with much lower memory bandwidth (due to the 256-bit memory bus comparing to the 384-bit memory bus) when the two cards got the same grunt and price are the same. Also, BF4 is gonna more optimised toward AMD cards as well.

7950 have some stonking free game deals, they are doing saints row free now! I say that as a bloke with a 670, it comes down to a cost analysis on the value of freebies and how they influence price.

I went from a 7850 to a 7950 about 6 months ago and the jump was worth the upgrade. Both cards overclock like beasts to be fair but the 7950 makes light work of most games at 1080p.

Like others have said, probably best to wait for news on the upcoming AMD cards. 7950's could drop further in price once the 900 series is out.

Agree on the CPU, but the optimised for AMD thing is going to be for like a week till nvidia get new drivers out
