Global warming was always a joke, the earth is a freaking giant ecosystem and it isn't static. The planet rises in average temp slightly and this causes maybe a slight shift in the efficiency of the atmosphere causing heat to leak out at a higher rate, which causes cooling, etc, etc. I'm not saying that IS what it is, just a possibility. Expecting the planet to maintain a single temperature and everything on the planet to stay the same and not change is insanely stupid. Deforestation, sure, bad, but there will certainly have been other times in history where huge forest fires have destroyed huge area's across continents. Growth is so frequently triggered by destruction. Destruction caused by humans and nature.
The push for a green though somewhat forced by the supposed global warming is in itself a different and EXTREMELY important thing. Just because the planet might adjust doesn't mean we shouldn't change years of incredibly bad idea's for the better. MDF is insanely widely used and is more and more thought to be bad for you and that is one of the tamer things used in homes widely that maybe shouldn't be.
Nuclear waste is going to be around for hundreds of years and the cost and hazard of storing it were underestimated when nuclear power was thought up. One plant being unable to safely and sensibly store it's nuclear material has been a huge hazard for 2 years and is still a huge risk.
We've had an incredible period of growth, science, ideas and production but many of them are financially based, stupid and ill thought out. We've changed almost an entire society from eating relatively healthy and natural foods to eating refined, un natural rubbish which is destroying the health of well, billions now.
We do need to push green, hard, regardless of climate change. Push companies to make the safe and sensible choices for products, not the cheapest. Stop food companies pushing highly refined incredibly unhealthy food.
