Hey guys, I've a friend looking for a gaming PC in the range of 400-500.
I am Capable of building computers but with the combining of compatible components I'm not so great. I would prefer it rebuilt, I'll let you guys decide which is best.

Can you guys help me spec one for mainly world of Warcraft as well The elder scrolls online.

The price range is just for the tower.

Thanks in advance

Will you be overclocking?

For this budget, i think a trinity build is ideal. I had one already in my overclock basket froma previous spec, unfortunately it went from just under £500 to about £560 because i used a lot of 'deals of the week'.

Give me a moment to pick some new ones.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A10-6800K Black Edition 4.10GHz (Socket FM2) APU Richland Quad Core Processor (AD680KWOHLBOX) £124.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A85XN-WIFI AMD A85X Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £86.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD38G2133HC11DC01) £65.99
1 x Corsair Force LS Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CSSD-F60GBLS) £54.95
1 x Lian Li PC-Q07B Mini-ITX Case - Black £45.95
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020058-UK) £43.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) HDD £41.99
1 x Thermalright AXP-100 ITX & HTPC CPU Cooler £39.95
Total : £518.29 (includes shipping : £11.25).

I had a DVD player but kicked it out to get nearer to budget. This at least includes wifi and is a small and portable in case your friend takes his PC's round other peoples houses to group game. Clocking this build will net you so impressive performance for the price and i doubt you will need any more ummmph to play the games mentioned. You can drop to just in budget by choosing a 5800k but i think it is worth the extra cost.

I've run a 4770K overclocked with a 7850 overclocked on a 350W PSU :p One around 500w might be a good idea though if the system would end up being upgraded to an overclocked 8350 or something, or a 7970 etc.

The 7850 is - I don't even know - miles above the APUs. A 7750 is roughly twice the speed of the best APU in graphics performance, and the 7850 is probably about double that. Plus the 6300 is a better gaming CPU. The board listed will allow a high overclock too (if you later add a decent £25-£35 cooler).

I would however change the RAM to C9 1600MHz, as that will slightly improve performance for the sake of £2.

The APUs are brilliant for media systems and entry level gaming, or systems where you're not going to want a discrete card.

Personally,I think the ZS is a better built PSU than the CX 430W,since at least from the reviews I have seen it has a better mix of capacitor brands and a ball bearing fan.

Regarding power consumption a decent 400W to 450W PSU would probably power an HD7850 2GB. My Shuttle SD37P2 with a SFF 450W PSU powered an HD5850 1GB overclocked by nearly 30% and a Q6600 with a high VID overclocked to 3GHZ on a 975X motherboard. I had a 400W PSU in it earlier which managed to run an 8800GTS 512MB and an E4500 running at 3.1GHZ fine.
