Prince William to leave armed forces

Feel sorry for him a little. Clearly he lovef being a rescue helicopter pilot and it's a great job and one where he's helping save lives. Should really carry on a bit longer.

Don't forget that SAR is moving out of military hands soon too. To me it doesn't seem right for a possible heir to the throne to go on the payroll of a private company as a regular employee.

Maybe this should be a general thread about the forces allowing people to leave too early.

Who cares what some random guy called "William" has done, I'm sure he wasn't the only early leaver.

The media is using him as it's more headline worthy, but you're right. There are lots of other guys in SAR that are in exactly the same situation, either leaving the forces early to work for private companies (thus "wasting" tax payers money spent on their training if that's your view) or moving back into other areas of the forces (again, "wasting" the money spent on SAR training).

These guys don't really have a choice, this change has been forced upon them, but the media is trying to whip up a storm about it

Another one spending his life sponging off the tax payer & his bone idle wife too

To be fair, William will probably do a few hours a week popping to schools, appreciating little Jimmy's picture of a rainbow etc, which the 'tourists' will lap up.

His wife will enjoy the free ride I guess.
