Finally got some cash together and really need a new gpu (Currently on a gts 450 1gb!) Been looking at all the deals and really loving the look of the asus 670 the back plate is a big bonus for me.
Right now im torn between the 4GB and 2GB version @£14 difference it seems like it might be worth it?

Now Am I mad? how good is a 7950 compared (disregarding the 3gb vram issue thats going on the forums at the moment ;) )

Always used Nvidia so no idea what AMD software is like

Currently on 720p res but going to 1080p asap, I play games like BF3/Guild wars 2/Deadspace 3

Please bear in mind Vram isn't the biggest issue for me as I dont mind turning some things down and never tend to run with motion blur (plus I doubt i have ever seen a truely maxed out game so ignorance is bliss)

Performance/silence/temps/aesthetics and hopefully longevity (I'm still using a gts 450 to play the latest games it still copes alright) are my main goals

On the free games thing I was going to get batman origins anyway so thats a plus, I already own the majority of games from the AMD deal but really to me its the card that matters not what it comes with
Thanks all

They're essentially the same, they both offer near identical performance for most games, each card has their weaknesses.

The 670 being 256bit bus, not a problem @1080 res though so a moot point.
The 7950 being without PhysX and decent 3D (tried both Tridef and 3DVision, vision is so much better)

The DCUII card is quiet, and cool. Neither have problems with drivers and if you do, you're part of the unlucky bunch.

If it was my money, i'd go with the better looking card. (DCUII, looks and feels so much more expensive than the IceQ Boost, assuming you'd go for the fan favourite of this forum! :D)

Im leaning towards the DCUII 670, it just looks sexy as hell and would be at home in my rig But I dont mind hearing both sides of the argument :)

I get that the 4GB is probably insane overkill, but no sense doing something if you don't do it fully right? :D

You wont be dissapointed if you get the DCUII. In terms of aesthics it's lovely :D Feels and looks more than it's worth, whereas the 7950 just looked cheap and tacky when i got it out the box.

Yes, 4GB is overkill for a single card single screen really not worth the extra, your money and your loss of beer tokens :D (i don't drink, but still :p)

+1

Ill add a screen or two in the future when funds allow, by the time i've finished my rig fully it'll be time to upgrade something again

The Asus 670 is a very good card. I've had mine for a few months now luckily I picked it up for £200 before the 7xx series came out. Its the GTX670-DC2T-2GD5 which has a base clock of 1058mhz and boost of 1137mhz (the one OCUK sell is the lower 980mhz one with a boost of 1058mhz).

At the time I bought it I had read the 980mhz one was a poor overclocker so I went for the higher pre-clocked one and I am delighted with it as it boosts to 1280mhz without me tinkering.

The main deal breaker, a very happy CrossFire IceQ user here saying get the 670.;)

The 670 on these prices aren't a hard sell anymore in the value comparison stakes(where most debates stemmed from) any more so it's now a good purchase.

There isn't much in both tbh apart from the slightly higher spec package from Amd-whether the higher spec counts or nor will be argued for some time I imagine.

@tonester,

Prefer Tridef more myself, maybe that's down to using it quite a lot in comparison with only trying Nvidia 3D but I found its a lot simpler to use but Tridef has much more tweaking/visual effect available and works on any native 3D Screen-HDTv's etc, where as your snookered with 3D vision in that regard.:)

Alright, based apon the opinions I have a DCUII Asus gtx 670 4GB in my basket, now to wait till monday as im a little short today boo :(

Thanks all for the help :)

Either card will be a huge upgrade over what i already have ;)
