FX-8 8350 or 3570k?

Hmm, The 2500K is actually better than the FX8350.

Actually it is the same as the Core i5 2500K,unlees you think 1FPS higher minimums for the FX8350 and 1FPS lower average is beating!! :p

OTH,the FX6300 is within 10% of a Core i5 2500K and 20% of a Core i7 3930K and is a tad quicker than an FX8150. That is a CPU that can be had for as low as £80,and budget CPUs go it does well for what it costs IMHO.

2fps faster in avg fps :P

But yeah, looking at that the FX 6300 does look like a good value option, the FX 8350 however doesn't imo.

If we're going to be pedantic it's 1 frame higher min, 2 lower average, technically, it is beating, but not in any way that matters.

GameGPU rank according to minimums,so it is placed higher then them,so it is beating it,according to them. OTH,it so little a difference anyway, and I predict the FX6350 will be about the same. I suspect, the BF4 Alpha is really only taxing the firxt six threads with lower utilisation for the next two. Hence the six core Core i7 CPUs being top.

But everyone can agree the FX6300 is brilliant price/performance.
But it's pretty irrelevant in this topic.

And if you ran the tests again you could probably switch around their results, they're on parity to be honest.

It is when in a thread about PD,BD is mentioned. BD just seemed bugged to put it mildly.

I said they are about the same didn't I??:p

Look at post 141.

Just to clarify I didn't mean ALL multi-threaded apps, I was talking strictly about gaming performance. For things such as encoding etc the FX8 would possibly be faster than the i5.

Thanks marine.

i dont think you read what he said.

What james didn't get was that PC's can be used for much more than just gaming, i.e. developing, ripping, mining/crunching (DC), rendering.

Personally I dont do much rendering but I game rarely these days so something to effect the decision when selecting components for a system.

I know there are 5 pages but read the thread before clumsy statements.

regardless, its not even always better in multi threaded software! which being an 8 core it certainly should be. but its not.

ive read the whole thread thanks. its ridiculous that its still going on, but here i am replying to it once again so im not blameless.

either way, im out now. if you (not talking to anyone in particular) still want to cling to your preconceptions and/or buyers remorse, then no one will be able to convince you of anything.

All things considered, I've chosen to go with the i5. Frankly speaking it feels safer with the i5, I have lots of doubts surrounding the budget and a FX8-8350 considering most games use 4 cores or less.

Good choice if you can afford it, as long as there's no other glaring weaknesses in the build it should be dead on!

Cpu bottlenecking is nasty. One of my pc's with a overclocked q6600 and a 2gb 7850 suffers with poor minimum frame rates in bf3 and splinter cell blacklist when using night vision. Yet my brother who has a i5 3470 and a 7770 ghz edition has double the minimum fps at the same settings in both games.

No point in having a better gpu if the cpu dips too low. Would love to know how the 6300 fx copes in the same scenario as I have no intention to change the 7850 for many years.

Good choice, the 3570k is a beast. the 8350 is great too, but for gaming the i5 is just on a different level.
