It says its performing slow but its at the 4.2ghz i set when playing games and drops to 4.1ghz when idle because i have power saving on, so what's the message about? :/

Many thanks in advance

This is normally caused by your GPU running out of Vram.

What GPU do you have and what games are you playing?

MSI gtx 760 2gb, i was playing splinter cell: blacklist at the time on ultra 1080p, ran fine, but first time iv had message, knock it down to 720p?

Thanks for the reply

Try high at 1080 rather than ultra at 720p, it will look better than 720p and nearly as good as it does at ultra in 1080p and use a bit less vram.

Thanks for the reply, so this is definatly my computer just saying the card isn't upto what im doing? Not cpu related? :) it doesn't do it on guild wars 2 but guild wars 2 isn't as demanding gpu game.

I used to get this on certain games, its just windows having a hissy fit.

IIRC the only way to prevent it from popping up is to Disable Visual Themes in the compatibility tab of the prog you are running that causes the message to popup.

Ball ache :/

Take a look at disabling WinSAT - sometimes (tho its usually only something like 2am on a Sunday) it will do a performance test if it thinks the PC is idle - sometimes it gets it wrong and conflicts with a foreground application causing that message to appear.

Ok ill have a look into it, thanks for the reply :)

It happens if your VRAM starts getting low. Aero by itself can use 250MB of your VRAM so if you're getting close to the ceiling then Windows will disable it. In some modern games it is possible to use up 2GB of VRAM on maximum settings.

My computer tells me this regardless of settings/game/GPU i'm using lol, ignore it. If you do for some strange reason run out of VRAM turn it off, will free up about 200-300mb.

Thanks, windows didn't disable it, it just asked me if i wanted to, i might stick to 720p with most games then, because i personally can only see a slight improvement from the upgrade to 1080p, textures look a bit sharper that's all.
