After many years keeping my phones in great condition, cover + screen protectors on the 1st day. My Mrs has well and truly ended my lucky streak by putting my phone in the washing machine.

I've never bothered with insurance before, however after this little disaster I am definitely taking it out for the replacement phone + an Ipad 4 we have in the house. Can any of you recommend insurance companies that you have used?

An expensive lesson, the replacement s3 is going to cost roughly £280 :(

well if a 130/80 quid saving is not that big might as well add some extra and get this gen phone?

xperia z/oppo find 5 etc? even htc one was floating around 400 not long ago..

You're probably up on the insurance anyhoo, if this would have been the first claim in many years. Plus you won't have to make a claim have £75 excess then they tell they won't pay anyway :)

We've got an amazing insurance with the Co-Op that costs £10/month for 4 phones + 4 gadgets.
I've just received a brand new S3 after walking into the sea with my old one a month ago.

There's an £80 difference now though . 16 gig Nexus4 are £199.99 now.

I didn't realize there was that much difference tbh, thought it was about £40. This thread wasn't about a replacement phone though, what I really would like to know is what insurance companies everyone would recommend?

Checked with your bank?

Halifax does phone insurance if your with your ultimate rewards package. Never used it but given it includes breakdown/holiday cover/emergency home cover/phone insurance for £10 a month to me its a good deal. Although ive not had to use it yet.

Threads easily derail :)

Like I said, if you're with the Coop then we pay £10/month for 4 phones and 4 gadgets and over the last 3 years we have had 4 claims which were all paid out on.
I had a 10" tablet from OCUK and when I got it home I dropped it down the toilet (don't ask), daughter replaced an iPhone, other daughter replaced a camera and I've just replaced an S3.

Cheers Dimple, I'll give them a go. One question though, did you take out insurance with Coop specifically for your gadgets? Or do you have your homes contents insurance with them as well? I recently renewed my contents insurance and it has a £200 excess so I don't want to put my phone on that, however I also don't want to have to take out another contents policy with the Coop just to get the phones covered.
