Basically need to send some money to a family member via barclays online banking... Thing is, I dont get what information to put into the fields so the money would send...

I have a debit card of a person who I want to send money to right in front of me with sort-code and bank acc number... But just cant figure out what to put into what fields...

Any help?

Thanks

It explains it every step of the way, I don't see how it isn't self explanatory. You use the name, account number and sort code and that's it.

Wait, I did not go full retard...

The problem is that it asks "name of a payee" and it wont let you do anything unless you select it from the list. Thats on my parents banking, However on mine it asks for sort code and acc number...

The person who I need send money to does not appear on the "name of a payee" sub menu.

For some reason it wont let me patch in sort code and acc number manually on my dads online banking but allows on mine...

Some online banking sites require you to set up the new payee first. Once you have created the new payee and saved their details on your online banking then you select them from the dropdown list and bobs your mothers brother.

This is how my RBS account works for example. I cannot just log on and transfer all my monies to a random bank account which makes things a bit more secure.

On Barclays it gives you an option of either selecting the payee from a list or to pay someone you haven't paid before. If you select someone you haven't paid before, it allows you to type the name, account number etc.

Is your head going to explode when it asks you to use the pin sentry to make the transfer?

It's not confusing .

So on yours:
Name of Payee = Their name/business account name.
Sort Code = Their sort code.
Account Number = Their account number.
Reference = Subject/Reference you want the payment to show up as when they receive it on their statement. Eg "Money for Cousin Bobby's bike from Lazder".

Is there a "Manage Payees" button? You should be able to add a payee and their details from there from there then type their name in the box. Pretty self explanatory really....

You need to do it via the traditional online banking as far as I know, saving the payee will make it usable.

happy to be corrected as if you are indeed able to do all that via the app I'd love to know :p

This is "traditional" online banking....

You can use pingit for under 1500, which I have done previously.

Update;

Basically my dad called up barclays, they said that his online banking "was not set-up" They said that once pin sentry arrives in 5 days it would be fine...

I guess the issue was that his "pin sentry" device was not ordered then...

You need the pin sentry to add someone new with Barclays so yes that will be the case. Once setup I don't think you need the pin sentry to make payments to them in the future.

That looks like on the page it's asking you for only the Name of Payee and Reference then. What happens if you fill those in and click next? Might take you to a second page for the account number and sort code...

it gives out error, saying name not recognized and does not proceed any further.

Gixer, I know... Currently the problem is that on my dads online banking I cannot put in sort code and bank acc number manually.... PIN sentry is not a problem and it comes after.
