Just did a new build so installing things one at a time. Office I will need sooner or later. I have a copy of Office 2007, but can get a copy of 2013 for £9 through work. Kind of tempted, solely because the amount is so low, but was wondering if it is even worth it? I don't use it much at home - mainly for Word and occasionally for viewing powerpoints (occasionally = once or twice in 3 months). Excel sometimes, but rarely.

Cheers guys. Wasn't sure if it was even worth the £9 given the limited use it gets, but if there is no glaring reason that 2007 is still better, why not.

In case it makes a difference to any recommendations - it is a limited use licence. Valid only as long as I'm in my current job. I'm here at least for 18 months, but might be longer anyway.

Cool surfer - make it 10 times as much, and I'llconsider it :p

i could. :p

ok it's a paltry amount but i still think it's a waste given the OP's light usage and the fact he already has 2007.

And this is precisely what I was trying to figure out - is it worth it? The amount isn't much, but is still a waste if I don't use any of the features. Does it have anything over 2007 that's super awesome?

I've not tried or had any experience with Office 2013, but if the UI's anything like the Office 2010 UI, then it's a substantial improvement over Office 2007 which had a stupendously hateful UI that looked like it had been designed in 1999 by a twelve year old in crayon :D

Any idea how I can set up the same kind of work programme as the OP is talking of? Would love to be able to offer this to my colleagues but wouldn't have a clue who to contact to arrange this or if we even qualify?

I bought it as a part of the Microsoft Home Use Program. No idea how it's offered, but perhaps look into the program.
