Hi,

After a little help. I travel internationally a lot for my job. Currently I have a loose system of a backpack that comes with me everywhere I go, plus any one of three wheeled suitcases - small, medium and large. The small one is big enough to fit in up to a week of clothing, the medium 2 weeks and the large got me through three weeks in the US recently.

This is alright, but its a bit of a pain having checked baggage everywhere I go, especially for one or two night stays. None of my suitcases are small enough to fit as cabin baggage either.

What I would like ideally is a bag that accommodates enough clothing for a working week but will also fit in my laptop and the other essentials I need with me. I'd also like it if the bag that contained my laptop was in some way removable so that I could carry it with me without hauling around everything else. A neoprene sleeve type bag isn't acceptable as it won't carry the other items I need with me. A messenger-type bag would be great. The ultimate would be a bag that I could use every day in the office that seamlessly fitted/integrated with this travel bag so that I didn't have to transfer over the items that stay with me day in, day out to facilitate my work.

TL;DR: I need a travel bag that contains some sort of useable bag for daily use which, when combined, can be used as cabin luggage on a plane.

If there isn't a bag available to do what I want, then that is a last resort option. I'd much rather have something that was designed with this in mind than stow a messenger bag inside a "normal" case.

I've noticed other people in airports with bags like this so I know they exist, I just can't seem to find them online!

I had one a few years ago, made by Animal, so not very business like and the wheels collapsed after 2 trips.

So no, that's crap. Lol

Sam, that looks awesome but I'm not sure it fits the brief? Is that big enough for up to a week's worth of clothes?

Im trying to get my head around this.

cabin luggage has a maximum size (BA use 56cm x 45cm x 25cm
(22in x 18in x 10in) and usually approx 10Kg weight.

What was wrong with a standard flight trolley/case and put a rucksack/laptop bag in that? You don't actually want to carry 2 bags?

You want a BIG bag, or 2 that combine, that is the same size as a small bag is what i read it as :) Am i being stupid ?

Exactly that - I don't want to carry two bags. I want a 56x45x25 wheeled bag that contains a laptop bag which I can use while there. I don't want to carry around either a large empty bag or all my clothes while I'm there.

I might be way off track in thinking that a solution where both bags were made to go inside each other would be better than buying two different bags, but maybe not. I don't want to have to faff to get my laptop out at security or on the plane etc.

Mary Poppins bag with a less homo pattern would be excellent ;)

I fly a lot on Norwegian air and their baggage policy is pretty slack but im pretty sure most airlines will allow you a flight case, as above and a "laptop bag" as well.

I put my laptop inside my flight case and yes it is a ball ache at security. but less of a ball ache than 2 bags. I don't have to travel about when im there though just leave it in the apartment.

If i were you id go 2 bags but check your regular airlines are ok with that, rather than have to pay extra fees or check one in as hold luggage.

I have this - http://www.johnlewis.com/samsonite-b-lite-2-2-wheel-cabin-suitcase/p469141?colour=Black

Taken with me when I went to Russia for 2 weeks with work. Sure it will easily fit a laptop in the top part and your clothes.

I also use it for long weekends and week long beach/summer holidays. Fits a surprising amount of stuff for its size and is great quality

edit - I just got back from Portugal where I was for 10 days. I weighed it before I went it it was 5.2kg. Meaning I took 3.1kg of stuff. ha ha, all about packing light

I predominantly fly BA but I could be flying with anyone. After BA it is probably Lufthansa.

I'll have a look at regular cabin bags and messenger bags and see what catches my eye as it doesn't seem like there is a perfect bag out there :(

I'm obviously confused. I thought a go bag is what action stars grab when they go on the run from their own intelligence organisation who has just betrayed them.
