agreed! and the car physics are terrible!!!

Yep, just solid blocks of metal.

Story is taking a while to build up so far, and I don't really have any connection with the main characters, only got 2 so far. And it just feels like a grind already. No real fun factor in exploring that I can tell. But it's early days yet. I've not even left the main city haha. Only just got to the outskirts for a mission (tennis coach, fun mission haha).

I imagine it will play like balls on the PC though...

yep and the handling is appalling! cars don't actually turn, they just appear to move abruptly left and right...so far not that impressed... the trailers make the game look amazing!

Caught a video of 2 dogs humping behind an industrial building...quite disturbed but will probably be the first thing I look out for when I get the game. :D

The slow motion thing reminds of the power up you get in Midnight Club LA, looks exactly the same for a matter of fact.

Yea, the 'special abilities' is just a gimmick, handy, but each character has their own and I have no idea what one guy does...

Which also reminds me, after the basics, the game often gives you the classic paragraph long pop up 'tutorial' messages in the top left at the most stupid of times. high speed getaway chase, and the game decides now is the time to give you a 5 second paragraph long pop up explaining how to do something vital. VERY annoying.

The 2 dogs is a scripted event in the main story line. You control the dog, and even worse. The game constantly pops up a 'tutorial' message asking you to download an app for your smartphone called ifruit so you can train up the dogs and characters abilities and such. I have no care for an app and can see me being prompted to get it every 5 minutes.

:(

18fps in 720p is simply not acceptable by my standards (above video of GTAIV) This must mean that either GTAV will run like a bag of turnips on PS3 / Xbox 360 at something like 10fps or the textures and general graphics will look like someone has smeared vaseline over everything

Or option 3: They'll have optimised the engine and their code to get the most out of the hardware. GTA4 was five a half years ago, after all.

Doesn't feel like they have bothered much with the engine. Just feels like GTA IV with new skins... Looks like it as well.

The FPS is woeful in the best of places. And the texture pop is dire.

The gameplay and screenshots are NOTHING like the actual game on the 360. The jaggies just cuts up the picture so badly.

Installed both disks yep. It's far from impressive. I'm looking past the graphics for now, just to see if the game is decent. But it's hard as it really does make it difficult to 'feel' the environment. The graphics are just too bad haha. Now and again you get a nice 'shot' of the environment, distance and the scale, but generally, it's pretty naff.

I know this is a PC section but since everyone is talking about the console version.

Anyone actually play it on the PS3 yet who isn't a console fan boy and can give some feedback similar to agnes on how it plays?

Personally I'd wait until the Digital Foundry do their thing. You're probably not going to get a more accurate view on whatever differences there may be until they do so. Can't imagine one version being much better than the other though.

"it's terrible but I'll carry on playing it to further disappoint myself and moan about it all over the forums"

:D

Reality: Actually loving it, but doesn't want to admit it in pc forum for fear of getting the crying brigade of graphics > all.

:p

Being used to playing games on a pretty good PC (3x680,3960X etc), I am not expecting much from a 200 quid console, just want to play the story so it doesn't get spoilt by others before its out on the PC.

My PS3+GTA bundle is now dispatching, haven't owned a console since 2008 when GTA 4 RROD my original release day 360 and I then went Office Space on it in the garden :p

Agnes is just trying too hard.

FPS is not woeful in the best of places, the app he goes on about is actually there to enhance the experience.

He's just a miserable old git by the sounds of things.
