Hi my galaxy s4 does not seem to want to charge properly any more nor is it recognized when connected via usb to pc, who do i go for warranty? is it the website i got the phone from? mobilephonesdirect, i am reluctant to go back to them as they were useless when i first got the phone.

I could fix the phone myself for around £10 which im tempted to do, but obviously it would void any warranty on the phone.

Is it possible to go direct to samsung?

Yep you can go direct to Samsung, although depending on when you bought it they may point you back to the retailer.

I pre-ordered it a month before release and got it around 3 weeks after i should have with my new contract, dont feel like waiting for the turn around to have it fixed, plus my phone is in as new condition so i dont like the thought of getting someone elses re-furbished phone back so i am tempted to spend £10 on a new charging port and do it myself.

Anyone had any dealings with mobilephonesdirect phone replacement or samsung themselves?

Refurbs always get a new outer case if the current one is marked in any way, they are honestly fine. Going to the seller invokes the same process as going to the Manufacturer often (but not always) - you can phone up and ask them (mpd) what will happen. If it's under x days (think it's 14? maybe 28?) they will straight replace, after that it's repair.

I go through a lot of phones, maybe 15-20 per year and have had quite a few over the years from Samsung. They on the whole have been without issue but i get my delivered to my desk at a telco so I'm not really Johnny average (although I'm 99% sure they just go through the same process it would be unfair for me to claim as such without 100% proof).

It's not very hard to change, damn sight easier than changing a soldered one. How they going to know you've been in there and changed it, any warranty seals?

their was a seal on the galaxy s2 as i had to replace that after i dropped the phone in a cup of coffee, from what i can see i dont think you have to remove the mobo on the s4 so might not be any stickers to take off, think its going to be easier to do it myself so think i will get one from the bay less hassle i think
