Gaming PC for around £400 - Advice Needed

I have been asked by a friend to spec/build a gaming PC with a measly £400 budget... is it possible? If so any advice on what parts to choose would be most appreciated.

I have a spare HDD that I could use to cut costs but everything else will be required for the base unit.

Sorry yeah it will be a standard 500GB Sata 2 most probably. Just the base unit... no screens peripherals etc...

^ You're not going to beat that. Dropping down to the 7790 would put it in budget, but the 7850 is far better overall and worth the extra. Maybe drop the DVD drive if one isn't needed.

Thanks for the quick reply, I thought it would probably have to be an AMD build.

The spec look pretty good but not used AMD (CPU's) for a while. Is there any room for overclocking with those parts?

Yes, maybe a aftermarket heatsink (which can be fitted later) will also help.
