Godus Beta

With regards to the bug where your people will no longer build, they are aware and have worked out what is causing it, so hopefully we won't need to wait to long for a fix.

Personally I'm stuck needing cards to progress, as well as just hitting the no more building bug, apart from that I've been loving it.

tempted but not at that price...

I bought some big budget games for £20 on release day how these people think they can charge £15 for a beta I will never know

But you get the final product, so you are paying £15 for a complete game, you just happen to get to play it from beta.

I cant find any shrines to expand the land, I spent ages looking for them and finally gave up. I decimated my population with Meteors as I am now an angry god:D

It feels like a mistake releasing a game like this so early to the public, especially for money with only being ~40% complete. The true hook of this game is meant to be the seamless world the size of jupiter with other players, the endless expansion and advancement to the space age etc. of which is either limited or non existent yet. The starting locations don't even seem to be unique yet, videos I've seen often show the same coastal area so how this transfers to the final full multiplayer mode I'm not sure, I guess people start a new game? Untill they produce what has been hyped up I wont be buying in, at the minute it seems like a facebook game.

It's one world, all the same. In the end it's advertised as a beta (and a very early beta at that) so people should know what they're expecting.

Not sure what you're referring to being one world, but there's only singleplayer currently with multiplayer matches with friends.

I've played it and it plays just like an modern update of populous, which is good. New card mechanics and chest finds.

I'm looking forward to playing with friends. Is there a shared online world in the final build?

I got the beta key email at the weekend, fired it up to have a look and ended up on it for a good 6 hours or so. Very addictive, even if it is fairly limited at the moment. I'm looking forward to the proper MMO style world that is in the pipeline!

I hear what you are saying, but more and more companies are doing the same rightly or wrongly. Look at Planetary Annihilation they wanted something like £60 for the beta and that was less than 40% done.

The beta is mainly a reward for pledging £15+ to their Kickstarter campaign last year. I did this and I'm happy to play the beta as an introduction to the mechanics of the game.

Pretty sure the only reason you can actually buy it at this stage is because they are going through Steam early access.

Don't get me wrong I want it to be great, I loved Populous and B&W back in the day. I just find it really odd that they'd release it without the key aspect of the game, which is the social science experiment (as they did with Curiosity) where everyone is on a single planet. I understand that they say it's beta to test the mechanics and what not but let's be realistic, it's on steam to the public so it's essentially a release. Anyone that's interested will either buy it or listen to the youtube personalities give their views, and that view is going to determine the initial success of the game no matter what state they call it.

I tend to agree that it may have been a mistake to do an early access at this stage, and it could damage the success.

Personally I don't usually play betas. I figure I'd rather wait until a game is fully complete rather than struggle with bugs and missing features, and it can spoil the overall experience if you've already played the beta. But I made an exception here as I backed it and have been enjoying following the development.

I just can't believe that people pay to play beta's(yes I know u get the full game later but your the. Locked into buying a game whatever the outcome of it) I espically think its more disgusting that these company's allow people to buy into there unfinished projects/game's just to start taking money in early, i think it potentially ruins games because people play them and get fed up/overplay and don't come back when the game is actually released reducing the player base.

It's sad that beta has now turned into pay to play early its a shameful tactic to me and doesn't really get the correct type of players they need at that stage of development.

I am however really looking forward to this game.

Crowd funding is the best thing to happen in video gaming for years. Developers can actually make the game they want without publisher constraints on money and release schedule.

This pretty much sums up all my thoughts exactly.

The only thing I'd add is that it seems that Curiosity was actually an experiment to see how much they could get away with making a game where you click repeatedly for very little in the way of payback, because that's what Godus feels like atm.

The 60% of the game that's yet to be finished certainly needs to add a hell of a lot. At the moment though, save your money for something else.

If paying for beta offends you, do what I do... and not pay for or play the beta. Wait until the game is finished, decide if you want to spend the money, and then enjoy the completed game.

yea watching cynical brits video you can tell everything about the game is made for a tablet.

they are just using pc gamers as gullible guinea pigs for their real target platform but we should have expected as much from peter molyneaux almost every game hes made since B&W has been ****
