Worst game you have played?

Crysis 2, for me. It was like watching a movie where i have to press a button occasaionally so it can progress. Which, as i understand, is the same as CoD Black Ops, BF3 and all the other "big brand" games.

I really hope this fashion comes to an end.

the game is just plain wrong anyway..... he's way too heavy and slow without his powers turned on....and not much better with them activated, Zero from BL2 is miles faster on his feet/ much better health and shield..

Crysis 2 feels ``clonky`` it has a heavy feel

Well, I don't know what game you played, but in the Dishonored I was playing, I was basically given a target to kill(or not if i chose to), and was given free reign to go about it however I wanted to. I could go straight to the target, or explore the area as much as I wanted doing side quests and finding secrets. I had control over pretty much everything, from the route I took, to whether or not I killed/incapacitated/just avoided each enemy, which powers I upgraded and used, who I spoke to. I could control how much of the story I was exposed to, and whether the guards were even aware of my existence. The way I played the game changed how easy/hard later levels were and how guards reacted to discovering me.

Calling the game linear is something I can not even begin to understand.

yes, the game isn't linear, but your objectives are and this is the way it should be...no silly side mission, nice and simple to understand, with the focus on the gameplay only.

Him Saying Dishonored is boring and linear is just total garbage, you can vary your gameplay as you've said above, in any way you want, it is a fantastic game.

but it's not a game to play all the time, you play it as a treat, because if you do you'll spoil it and it'll get a bit boring, because some games you can play all the time, but you cant with this one, it's too small; not enough content

Indeed. The only thing that's pre-defined is the bones of the story arc, and you can make changes to how it comes out as you go along.

I'd struggle to think of a less linear game that has anything like as strong a story.

I was more expecting to see fully open world games called 'boring' because people don't get baby fed the story. But calling Dishonored boring? Sigh

You make some good points, fair enough. We're coming at this from different angles, and most likely gaming backgrounds. Weird how people think calling something linear is some kind of insult, like it's an inherently bad quality. Could argue about this til I'm blue in the face really but when it's all boiled down almost every game is linear in some way. I just found Dishonored to be more so than my usual gaming experience. Perhaps I'm sheltered in that regard. :p

Not saying it's perfect but if Dishonoured is the worst game you have ever played then you have lived something of a charmed life. You'll be wanting to stay away from 95% of the games ever made to avoid disappointment.

Defiance...
At the beginning was nice, but after 2 days you don't have anything new to do, It is always the same Fully star all swearing - Davey, plus the ingame chat is horrible for a online game.

it's not pure linear, because a line can be curved too !....``Dishonored`` is curved, because you can go around your obstacles and even attack from the wrong side...or if you want; ignore them.

the correct description of a pure linear type of shooter should be :- `` corridor style``.... more like Doom 3, where the AI is directly ahead blocking your way, or FEAR, but FEAR worked, Doom 3 didn't

Devestation....made many years ago and when Eminem was very popular...

I actually got killed by a box that was on the stairs when playing this, it just glitched out each time and killed me!

Books and films feed the reader/viewer the story and they are amazing at doing so, I like linear games because I like following the story. nothing about being baby fed.

open world games are all well and good but I always have a worry I am missing something, an item, or worse, part of the story so I enjoy them less. Be a boring place if we all liked the same thing!

While not a pc game FF10-2 you take on a role of 3 girls whose super powers involve changing outfits. The worse game ever made especially after ff10 was so good

PC wise I dont like dead space but thats due to the third person view nothing against the game itself. However more impressively did anyone ever play typing of the dead? I played the demo which was awful.

Bullet Witch.

I ran around two corners before giving up and selling it. The controls were atrocious and enough for me to never return to that game.

I feel exactly the same, and I didn't mean baby fed story as a negative for the actual games, just the players who either can only play open world or only play linear (and when you mention a game that isn't to their taste it is 'boring')

I also see most linear games as watching a film/reading a book. I'm just along for the journey (except Outlast recently, that was the first game to actually make me feel like I was there).

Dat OCD feel in open world games (like Borderlands 2/Fallout 3) where I'm not sure if I've missed a single piece of loot somewhere and I have to go back to manually search each ammunition box or safe.

First world problems

FO3 is open-world sandbox, BL2 just had very large stages with more of a story-line drive imo.

I mean that by BL2 having a storyline that actually pushed me to progress through it, whereas FO3 lets you completely ignore the main story if you want, just like Oblivion and Skyrim, and it's that lack of focus that usually sees me eventually just fizzle out with the games. Same happened in Just Cause 2 and Farcry 3, the narrative just wasn't strong enough to get me to complete the game.

yes, you need to be following a plot/ story in a game, or you just fizzle out and get bored, plus there's nothing much to see in openworld shooter games anyway, it's all similar...you just stroll around in circles thinking, ``what shall i do now, i suppose it's time to carry on with the game``

the trouble with FC3 is it had huge potential with Vass, but ended up dumbed right down, with stab key moments, and really lame arsed drug induced hypnotic fights....so so bad !!!!
