see above :p mostly gaming but i find the 120hz/144hz screens to be inferior in image quality. Id like no or min ghosting but excellent IQ.

You can spend a lot more but I'd recommend the Hazro 27" as I have the older revision but it's spot on for gaming @ 1440p and being an IPS the colours are a lot better.

Essentially the pixel responsiveness is as good as it needs to be for optimal 60Hz performance, but there is a bit of input lag. It's worth also reading the 'responsiveness' section of the Philips 272P4QPJKEB review as that goes into more specific detail about what to expect from this sort of monitor when gaming. The pixel responsiveness on the Samsung is similar if not a touch better. The colour reproduction and default setup on the Samsung is exceptional.

ordered the Samsung, its expensive but I hear the image quality is worth it.

I just hope its fine for gaming.

Spending that kind of cash, I would have gone the NEC MultiSync PA271W route.

That is an impressive monitor, but personally I would still go for the samy if it was me. The samsung looks fantastic and the screen quality from all reports is equally as impressive, also it has HDMI and is a bit cheaper than the NEC.

Yeah, I should have read the OP fully. I assumed (wrongly) spending that kind of money was for some pro graphics work as well. If it's just for gaming, go for the Sammy but in all honesty you can get monitors far cheaper that will look just as good purely for gaming.

very true, recently got the DGM 27" myself and its a lovely piece of kit, games look great at 1440p and I haven't even tweaked the settings yet!

But i guess im a sucker for the brand names and the beautiful things and sort of dreamed I could get the samy :D
