Are you always this thick or just in this thread? Genuine question... I gave the reason,he was stopping his property from being permanently removed. That is good enough reasoning for me.Take care.

Well if thats a good enough reason for you, then sir it is you that is the thicko. Toodle pip.

Genuine question, do you really not see why that isn't good enough when it comes to managing a society?

He might realise the next time he walks out of william hill and the manger shoots him in the back because he has pocketed one of their pens.
But thats fine because they are only getting their property back.
I know he probably wouldnt take it by force but stealing is stealing and he will deserve because he is a criminal.

Yeah,totally valid comparison. :D

Nicking pen = Armed Robbery. Congratulations my dear Boy.

I know this will be like boxing a glacier, but...

It isn't a 'right,' which is why it is a criminal act. What gives you the 'right' to terminate somebody's life?

Property Rights do under certain circumstances, you should read up on some of them some time. Take care.

A jury of his peers would determine if the force was proportionate or not, as they did historically. I suspect most people would not kill someone over a pen knowing they could get the death penalty for such stupidity.

But this is a bit of a straw-man anyway.

No,no,in his mind nicking a pen warrants the same response as Armed Robbery.

So they could only shoot you if you was armed too? Even if you had put your gun away and was walking off down the street?

It would depend on the circumstances. Anyway,Armed Robbery is unacceptable and warrants the strongest response possible, that's all I'm saying.Bleedin' heart Liberals obviously disagree.

Agreed, it is unacceptable and it does warrant the strongest response possibe..... under the laws of the land, not the gun wielding shop keeper.

No,I don't,genuine answer. What gives anyone the right to take my or yours or anybody else's property?

Er nothing that's why over time we've codified a set of laws voted on in parliament and then the parliamentarians put themselves up for public vote to make sure they still represent the views of their constituents, having done this for hundreds of years we arrive at this point in jurisprudence that says you can't shoot a man in the back for allegedly stealing some of your stuff no matter how ****** off you are.

I note that all the folk defending the guy with the suspicious illegal gun are exposing all of their preconceptions and presuming all sorts of stuff about other forum members it must be ace to be so wrong yet feel so right, it's this sort of pre judging that laws are meant to control.

Excellent point sir.

This is never an easy one to answer; a massive part of me always thinks 'good, one less scoundrel in society', although I appreciate that you can't allow Joe Bloggs to kill anyone they feel hard done by.

Unfortunately it doesn't sound as if the circumstances of this shooting will fall under the guise of acting in self defence. Going to prison for life vs losing some goods that should be insured and having to pay higher insurance premiums? That's an easy choice, although easily said when you don't have the adrenaline flowing on tap.
