Submerged PC

Modem broke over the weekend so only just seen replies.

Thanks for the input...honestly, I thought I would just get told to **** off.

I may still give it a go in the future. I can't see any harm in trying to run mineral oil through rads to cool it all down though I do appreciate from what you're all saying it probably won't make a difference. Obviously if I do try you'll all be the first to know :-)

Thanks all

I don't think it's very practical nor a good investment of time.

Chilled water-cooling would be a much better project although high electricity costs and risk of condensation make it impractical for most.

It works, but doesn't worth.
A good air cooled setup will do a better job and will be cheaper.

+1

Try a traditional W/C setup first if you haven't already.

Water is a much better conductor of heat than oil.

Oil is going to be a massive problem when it comes to upgrading or modifying your PC as you are somehow going to have to clean the oil off your components. Also you don't really want oil getting into the expansion card slots and power connectors.

Basically this is just a novelty done by few just to prove it can be done, its practicality is almost none existent.
