Do the Equifax and Experian free trials give you all the info?

Seem to remember trying it years ago and only getting a score, I need exact breakdown of what I owe to whom, for Equifax that seems ok - they offer a £2 report via mail (seems awfully cheap btw?) - but for the Experian you seem to only be able to sign up for a trial first, can't see an option for a statuary report?

Yep, go with noddle.

The others will remember if you have used them and not let you have a free trial (I tried) plus they really set you up to forget to cancel the payment and thus fall into the trap of paying..

£2 for your own information? How is that cheap?!

So it gives you everything you owe and to who, not just a score. Every bit of detail you can get?

And how do they manage to offer this for free?

Yes, they give you their own version of a score, out of 5. 1 being the worst.

They offer further details and information at a charge which is where they make their money, but it isn't forced upon you in any way.

Noddle will give you a lot of detail, I've had both Experian and Noddle, and never felt Experian provided information that was important to me that Noddle didn't. In fact, I'm struggling to remember differences.

I have a Noddle account, and yep for a free report it does show all your loans/credit cards/mortgage etc etc

It doesn't seem to get updated as quickly as others, and I never understand their scoring method - Back in Feb I did sign up to Experian to check my details and at the same time I had a score of 962 / 1000 - Excellent with Experian I had a 2/5 - Poor with Noddle.

I did just sign up to Equifax yesterday to see my report there, which was the same as everyone elses, but to get their score cost £5.95 so I didn't bother - then just phoned them and cancelled it 15mins later, so as not to pay the monthly fees.

Experian also do a statutory £2 report. They are all obliged to do so under the Data Protection Act.

It updates every 30 days or the day you look at it if later than 30 days.

CallCredit aka Noddle generally have less information than the other credit reference agencies - not as many companies use them because they are smaller. Perhaps the invention of Noddle may have / may continue to improve that, but my talkmobile contract is not showing on there

Do Noddle still have problems with people who haven't lived at the same address for a long time?

Did they ever? I signed up during the beta when I had lived at my address for less than 6 months. I then moved house, but they hadn't implemented the address change properly at that point (Nov 2011) - they fixed that one a few days later...

What do you do if there is something that doesn't look right?

I have just signed up and apparently have an on-going phone contract with Orange that has defaulted for the past 4 months, that I have no idea about!

Call or email them to raise the query.

I have contacted Noddle customer service before to get something updated and they were very helpful.

I tried Experian's free trial which gave me a really high score (as in not very far off their maximum) and have tried Noddle which gives me a mediocre score. Not sure why there's such a difference but the actual info on debt, lenders etc looked to be the same on both.

Yeah, there were a number of us on the forums that couldn't be located on Noddle. I think it was due to not being on the electoral register.

Seems to be fine though now, signed up today and it all worked fine.

Yep I signed upto them a year ago and got an email with all the details (also did the 30 day free trial). The £2 fee as mentioned is the data protection act fee. However lenders are a law into their own and a great credit score could mean very little if you dont meet the criteria. This is why I make sure all debts i.e car loans and phone contracts are dealt with, especially when applying for mortgages.

Its worth also looking at the free credit checking sites. Noodle is a good one I use now.

I didn't know about Noddle! How accurate is their credit rating? I've got 5/5.

Pretty accurate from what I've seen - I've known a few people with low scores who had defaults, etc. and I've known people who, while they've had credit, managed it well with no defaults and had an accurate high rating.
