Talk to me about E92s

Maybe BMW outsourced the building of Fox's old 335i to Longbridge for a single day of production on a Friday afternoon.
The general concensus on here seems to be that most E9* seem to be fine.

Otherwise, my apologies for actually preferring my E91 to the E46, and by reasonable amount.
 
My E92 drives very nice with no rattles at all. Infact after 80K I am very pleased with how tight it all is.

MY old E46 M3 with 80k was certainly nice too, I personally say the e92 is a nicer day to day driver with better build quality (less plastic?)

That's mostly due to the fact it is their current car.
We have a guy stuffing microfibers into his car....

To solve a problem that an AFTERMARKET component caused. And i would have done the same to the E46 squeaky armrest had i thought about it at the time (and that was a BMW standard fit)...

People have admitted that there are several common rattles on the E92, like pretty much every car in the world. The question is, if the E90 is so so bad, why did you buy one? Surely if it was as bad as you're making out, you would have picked up all of this stuff within 0.32423 seconds when you test drove various E90's?

I can understand someone who has been sitting in high end Merc's and well built BMW's saying the E90 interior feels low quality and rattley, but someone saying it feels cheap and rattley compared to the E46??? What?!

Haha, it was the logical step and just went for it. Bought it for £11k and sold it for £11,750 5 months later.
 
Oh stop the bickering you lot! :p

I've been looking at Autotrader and Pistonheads and it seems like I can pick up something suitable for around £15k. The only issue with shopping on Autotrader et al is the adverts can be lacking in spec detail; it means getting the VIN from the reg using the BMW warranty site, and then using the VIN to find out the spec the car left the factory with.

There are some really nice looking BMW Approved Used vehicles, but they charge a crazy premium for them! As nice as it would be to have the full Approved Used warranty, I think I'd rather save £5k and just get the comprehensive BMW Insured warranty on a private car instead.

Actually if you can insure it you should take a 650i out on a test drive, you may like it.

I have been driving around a 650i for the last 4 weeks in Chicago and to be honest I think I like it more then my 335i.
 
While I don't doubt that the 6 series is a great car to drive (the gf's dad had a 640d which was lovely), it has a different image to the 3 series which in my mind more suits the older driver.

It also does nothing for me looks wise..the front end looks very odd.
 
I dont understand why the 6 series isnt more popular and is so damn cheap.

To me the 6 series image says "pretty awesome car", 3 series mainly screams company car fodder at me.

I think its the marmite looks.

The new 6 series looks awesome, the older gen ones (I can't remember the Exx model designation number) look awkward imo. If you like the looks, they are great value.

FWIW they don't scream old man's car to me, just more of a GT style motor.

Just had a look at the 6 series, you can get some decent examples for under £10k, even i'm tempted by them, I don't think they look that bad imo.

Much to know about them? I accept the 650i is not gonna be good on the ol' MPG front.

I'd love an M3 but can't afford the additional running costs that go with them at the moment. Well I could, but it would mean using money that has to go towards a house deposit. Once the house is sorted then an M3/M5 could well be a viable option.

The more I look at things, the more I think £15k is a sensible upper limit on spending. Something like Dr House's E93 would have been ideal if I didn't need somewhere on the roof to mount a bike rack.

The 6 series is a more premium car than the rep mobile.

If you can get over the image side of it, I guarantee it will be a lot more value for money.
