Never thought I'd be the one posting this thread, but my wife has just had someone rear end her pretty badly in traffic, car storms off and she's left with my Smart no longer running :(

Luckily I have a dashcam, and it JUST caught the plate of the car speeding off and you can just make out a crumpled front bumper!

- for some reason it only exported in SD, the Micra passing is the vehicle involved.

Just been into the Police station and they were pretty disinterested, got a reference number but they didn't want to accept the DVD of it and just handed my wife a form to fill out and basically said 'we will look in-to it hopefully towards the end of the week'?! Is this usual, even with evidence? If I was the other driver I would be rapidly trying to get my car fixed and hidden!

Also - anyone know of any ability to get hold of the address of the GL06 BBV, I know it isn't strictly possible but wondered if there was any ways around this? - don't want to confront the owner but would like to get photos of their car before they have a chance to do anything!

Get their insurer off askMID and lodge a claim, inform them a police report is being filed, might scare them into fessing up.

*****'s need to be taught a lesson.

I'd phone the police tomorrow and work your way up to someone senior to push things through.

Did you get the beetle drivers details? Are they a witness or did you hit them?

Oh dear. Looks like those 2s-3s saved by not letting the Audi out may have just caused a whole load of agro.

Im quote amazed that the Police were not interested seeing as you have the reg and see them leaving the scene, but then i suppose PC Little Willy's job is much easier just zapping speeding motorists than going round someone's house to look at their car for signs of damage

Is it just me or does it look like both the Micra and the other Nissan abomination both speed off? In terms of the accident I'd hand over the footage to the insurance company, not a lot you can do as an individual.

Surprised that the cops did nothing, isn't leaving the scene of an accident an offence?

Ah - I didn't realise you could do that kind of search on askMID, I shall give that a go.

Yeah we have the Beetles details as my Mrs literally just kissed her rear bumper but she didn't even take my Mrs details and there was absolutely no damage to their car.

Mrs is OK - little shaken up and more ****ed off than anything, neck doesn't hurt yet LOL!

To be honest the OPs wife didn't have room to let the Audi in and from the vid nor did the VW.

Yeah she said she had to slow down pretty rapidly, and tbh if she had let him out could have been a whole lot worse - I recon you could fit the whole of a Smart inside the interior of that Q7!

at 2s it couldnt be clearer the audi was looking to move out. at 5s brake lights are on ahead and it takes until 6s until shes on the brakes hard. it looks like she was so pre-occupied with not letting the audi out which lead to the late braking when she realised the beetle had stopped.

the same applied to the car behind, not watching the car ahead, and bam

Micra ran as it's always the fault of the person who goes into the back of you. Seemed like the OP's smart also nudged the car in front.

Contact your insurance, send them the video evidence.

Bloody hell. Takes some nerve to just drive off and I can't believe the police aren't interest. Does the plod in question have a twitter account?
