AMD Hawaii is 30% smaller than Kepler GK110

Yup it is all going to come down to price and judging by some of AMD launch prices it could be very bad FX9590 anyone :p

Early adopting could be a hazardous proposition.

I really do hope I'm wrong.
Buying at around new year's time would most probably see the prices come down a bit :p

But of course, one could hope that AMD learn from the idiotic high price launch of the 79xx, 7990, FX9 etc. Time is against them...they don't have the time to play around with testing the water with stupid high price like they did before- every month they are not shifting their cards at a decent rate, that's another month closer to Maxwell's launch.

The fact that you expected "exiting" implies you fell for hype or had expectations that were unrealistic.

Stop reading what you want to read instead of what is written.

I do not EXPECT exciting, but I would bloody well like it to be!

Who does NOT WANT exciting?

Well, if the Titan is 30% larger, as the quote in the article says (thanks Orangey), then that puts Hawaii at about 423mm^2. That's 16% larger than the 7970.

At a guess I'd say 2560 shaders. The refined design should allow them to tighten things up a bit. If it comes in at 1Ghz it should have about 25% more grunt than a 7970GE, and any architecture improvements could boost that a little.

It's not unreasonable to think it might match the titan, or at least come fairly close.

25% aint gonna get me from the green team and the features and driver settings layout im used too.And lets not forget the years of Batman smoke take that AMD peasants!

I wonder will my 580 last until january and Maxwell. How much do clean and never overclocked 580's go for now on the mm?

Don't forget the bits of paper blowing about.

Surely Batman has the money and resources to tackle litter. But there's always that one numpty on the local council who blocks good ideas...

This forum section is like a stuck record. Another GPU release brings the same old arguments. Has anyone fallen out over the conversion from dollars to pounds yet?

if its sits in between titan and 780 its a win, OC and your having a good if not great deal right there.
However price might not be a win ;)

^^ Agreed. That would be enough for AMD to look like the better deal. Obviously price will determine how much better of a deal it is. Performance wise the top dual card could be an absolute monster !
