********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

Heard of several people having problems getting the game to start, as well as texture/model pop-in, although much of that was apparently caused by having both discs installed to the same storage device.

Texture quality is higher on the PS3 version.

See I get no disc noise, I don't get it?

I installed the first disc via the on disc install, then installed the Play disc via the normal install method on the dashboard, both to the hard drive, and I get no disc noise at all. Wonder what's different with some peoples?

Started playing this yesterday, really impressed so far, loving the humour too, always brings a smile to my face. Has anyone tried the USB stick on the 360 version? Does it still produce issues with pop in etc?

I have the first generation Xbox 360 elite, it's also on the desk right next to me. It's really loud and constant.

Do you have the newer version?

Disappointed that the car handling physics and damage model have been neutered, guessing it is because all the mouth-breathers complained that the GTA IV handling was too difficult/realistic

EDIT: Just seen the below.

5%?! More like 95%.

Be realistic here, nobody's expecting it to be a driving simulator, and it's rather silly to even suggest that there's any kind of trade-off between vehicle handling and map size or visual quality. They've simplified how cars handle because people moaned about it in GTA4 (or didn't have the skill), simple as that. Unfortunately, in the process they've ignored the people who quite liked GTA4's model.

It's not a game-breaker by any means, but I'm sure you can understand that it's going to take a lot of getting used to for people who preferred the previous way of doing things. When you're accustomed to having to slow down a little and ease your car around a tight corner, it doesn't feel right to be able to stay on the throttle and just tap the stick to perform a near-90 degree turn.

Agree completely, the handling is far far too 'sharp'. Turn-in is ridiculous.
Damage is just as bad, seems I can crash head-on into another car with a closing speed of what must be over 100 mph and drive off with little more than slightly damaged headlamps.

From what I just read there are no issues with it, just benefit from less noise.

Stop moaning about the graphic and frame rate, it is fine !!!!

This is a console from 2006 ! I'd like to see how well your rig from 2006 run a game that comes out in 2013, you need to be realistic here, comparing to games you've played in the past couple of years is not fair. The programmers should be given maximum credit to give this console its last hurrah something this good.

I do get taxis most of the time if it's a long old drive away for a mission. However when just exploring, I'll drive :)

The best thing about this is, I'm 23 hours in (lol at that after only having it a day) and I'm at 33%, that's amazing! Going to be a long game :)

Up and down on the left stick, only works when stationary though

23 hours in!!! holy **** i only managed to get a hour on yesterday i jizzed.. twice then had to come off because the girlfriend came round :( haha.

You're doing it wrong! Rockstar tell you NOT to install the play disc to the same hard drive as the install disk.

LOL at you lot having a dig at Eliot, he does have a point...i think its pretty sad that people have taken a day off in order to play GTA V...its only a game for gods sake:p

But meh each to their own, i guess playing it first means you have an absolutely huge e-penis:D.

I get up at 5:30 for work, walk for an hour to work, finish at 6 or even 9 if its my late shift. I don't usually get home till around 7 or 7:30 most nights. I don't have time during the week to do much.

I want to enjoy this game without being super tired or having to worry about work the next day. I do have others plans and chores I need to get done but my main purpose for this time off work was to enjoy a game that have I been enjoying since the 90's.

We are all in this rat race of a life. You live yours, I'll live mine.

Game is good btw.

Don't know why as I have done and it plays fine with no issues. So maybe that's for older models

It seems to be for texture/model loading etc. If you think about it, if you have 16GB worth of files on the same hard drive, so that drive must work much harder in order to get everything on screen. If you have 8GB on the hard drive, and 8GB from the disk drive, you've effectively doubled the available loading (imagine setting up two hard drives as RAID0). This is also why R* tell you if installing to a USB flash pen it must have a read speed of at least 15MB/sec.

From what people can make out, they built the game to stream assets from two sources, HDD (mandatory install) and DVD. Installing both discs to the same HDD can prevent some objects/textures loading quickly enough so they can pop-in.

So choices are,

Install both discs and put up with it or not notice it

OR

Only do the mandatory install and play from DVD

OR

Do mandatory install and install the play disc to a USB stick/USB HDD

;)

Yeah, I've certainly not seen any pop in or texture issues. And I'm usually very good at spotting it, I used to bitch about it all the time with UE3 games.

If there is any, it's obviously not enough to bother me at the moment, it doesn't seem worth the hassle of buying a 8GB drive and re installing it. It works fine with both on the disk. Out of interest though, which stick do people recommend on here from OcUK? If I notice it, as I'll be looking out for it more now, I'll buy one

Anyone find the snappy camera when driving really nauseating? I just cannot get used to it. I want it to be manual camera controls but I can't find any option. I am sure there was one for GTA4 as I remember going through the same thing.

Please respond asap.
