Although nothing new i see this all the time in my line of work and is it really worth the risk it to save a bit of time, no of course not.

Had one just a few weeks back when putting a road railer on a level crossing and a bunch of cyclits totally ignored the warning lights and decided to do as they please, idiots .

People are always walking out in front of cars at pedestrian crossings where I am, quite often without looking at all, cars only 10 feet from them...

I prefer the "better safe than sorry approach" and only cross on a red man/light if I am completely sure.

Don't come across level crossings at all myself but would never try to drive through... =/

Lol @ the car reversing back in the second one. Some of these people lose all sense of reality when close to or on a crossing.

Try it on a bike. The number of people who think that I'm not there because I'm not making any noise is potty. Plenty of near misses....

The 'squash' one is just painful to watch. They go through with the barrier going down, have a completely clear path to continue on through... but decide to stop on the tracks and then reverse backwards and destroy the now descended gate?

Morons.

Anyone who goes over a crossing when the lights are flashing deserves whatever happens to them.

It really frustrates me to read sob stories of parents complaining that crossings are unsafe because their children have been killed.

They've been wiped out due to their own stupidity of trying to cross when the lights are still flashing. It's nothing to do with the way the crossing works, it's down to the idiocy of your offspring.

where I live one of the crossings with barriers is next to a roundabout for a busy dual carriageway and so at peak times the traffic has to queue , the number of people who actually pull up behind stationary vehicles and stop on the train line is truly frightening.

I have even seen somebody do this towing a caravan as the lights start.

think of the driver. if i drove a train that hit someone my fault or theirs you would have to put me in the loony bin.

I often cross when the light is RED because I realise sometimes it's red but the cars aren't allowed to move anyway so you may as well cross.
obviously if the cars are moving and theres not a large gap I will wait.
at zebra crossing's the road counts at the kerb so if a car runs me over so be it he gets the penalty points :P

Theres two level crossing on a cycling route I do and I'm always paranoid crossing it.

the red light in the middle always seems to be lit but I take it the light either side which appears to be green flashes when a train is coming?

Just heard on the news a train hit a bus on a crossing & ripped the front of the bus off.
