people are stupid
Bah, humbug....
You've just reminded me of what happened last saturday.... off to get a new power steering hose made up and saw a small dog loose in the road.
Car in front of me stopped and a woman got out to try and catch the dog. I stopped and put hazard lights on and blocked my side of the road.
Car in opposite lane stops, and another woman gets out to help. At this point the dog (a smallish white terrier type - think the fluffy thing from the Caesar choice cuts advert) decides to cross the road to check out a bloke with two german shepherds who is passing by.
All the dogs are pretty calm and the guy tries to catch hold of the dogs collar but it backs off into the road then turns around to go back to the bloke again.
You know what's about to happen, don't you?
Another car (corsa) coming in the opposite direction runs the little blighter over - after being smacked in the head by the front bumper (you could hear the bang from across the road), both front and rear nearside tires go over the dogs shoulders/neck/head.
The car stops a ways down the road.
I tell you, the most obscene thing I've seen all year so far is that poor little dog lying on its left side in the road, the white of its coat in stark contrast the the blood on its head and the road.
The second woman had some choice words for the driver of the corsa, then with the help of another pedestrian, she carried the dog to her car to take to the rspca/vet. Small mercy that it was probably a quick end.
Sorry to put a downer on your day, but you reminded me of it, and my annoyance of irresponsible dog owners and of idiot drivers who can see there's something going on in the road, but blindly continue on without thought to what might be happening in the road in front of them. Could have been a much better outcome
