What I wanna know is when will reviewers NDA lift? Do they already have the cards? It's only a week away now...

8pack / Gibbo must at least be in contact with AMD re: samples by now.

Nothing we didn't know already.:p

NDA is for everyone, including 8pack and Gibbo.

8pack has known for a while what it can do I imagine.

All Gibbo cares about is how many he can sell.

You must be psychic mate :p, I had only seen rumors before.. AMD announced today that 25th is the date, nice to have official confirmation, along with the thing being webcast. These have been a long time coming.. Only a week to go, hopefully they unveil the dual GPU, that has the potential to be a monster..

This news is so old Broomstick you were still typing Hxxp instead of Http when posting links here, when it was originally leaked. :p

So it looks like it will be just as I predicted a big unveiling of the hardware with no third party benchmarks until availability just like last time. Only a single card being shown as well, oh dear this is really lining up to be a whole load of fail. :(

So the way I can see it all happening is that on the 25th they will have their big unveiling that will show us the new cards something like this.

25th unveil R9 990x with availability some 3 weeks latter. (I wouldn't be at all surprised if we have to wait till availability for benchmarks)

I can just picture the look on your face right now Bru.

I think they will have "corporate weasel benchmarks" that proclaim masses of bungholiomarks in some proprietary/custom demos (TressFX), possibly featuring the classic polygonal pinup Ruby (as per invite card :D). But no real-world, maybe 3DMark or some synthetic numbers.

LOL!

Ah man, my gif website is letting me down so a text reply only to this one.

Wow bunch of pessimistic posts :p, I'm looking forward to seeing what AMD announce at least. Couldn't give a monkeys about availability as I won't be switching anyway. Always good to have some competition though. Hopefully AMD will at least make Nvidia have to rethink their pricing..

I don't think AMD will be making NVidia rethink their pricing. They are already getting the damage limitation going even before the new card is launched by hinting that the performance might not be up to GK110 levels.

"It is 30% smaller than a GK110"

We signed an NDA years ago, my samples land any day, when they do I'll give 8Pack one to play with but we can't upload any results until NDA lifts.

All I can say is 7990 is still king performance wise, but it is dual GPU, whereas R 290 is single as are all Hawaii.

I'm not sure about that Kaap, I have a sneaky feeling the top GPU will match the 780 and cost a fair chunk less. Looks like no performance records are going to be set, but if AMD can offer a high end alternative that doesn't cost as much then that's really all they need to do. 780 performance level is pretty damn good if AMD match performance and beat price then they will have done well. 20nm is when things will get more interesting performance wise. I imagine 20nm cards might be overkill even for 1440p lol. I would be happy with a GPU that performance around 780 levels but with much less power consumption, roll on 20nm...

Top GPU, 2816 Shader cores? 425 / 430mm², 28nm,
Could be very good.. Maybe even faster than Titan.

If 2560 / 2304 Shader cores, likely match the 780 and be cheaper. Really depends how AMD want to market Hawaii..

I think AMD are going for where the money is. They need a card that is markedly faster than the HD 7970 but not much more expensive. It does not have to match a GTX 780 but if it can that's a bonus, what it needs to do is sell for £150 less.

As for the Titan (if it was not already on the market) would even NVidia bother with it now they are shifting as many GTX 780s as they are.

How many Titans have NVidia sold lately, probably not many. If anything that old monty python joke comes to mind "How many new Titans have you seen today", answer "nearly one".
