New to AMD - MSI HD 7970 Twin FrozR OC BE Temps

Right, I got a little delayed on the way home from work (family PC "emergency"), but I've now had a little play with my card in different configurations. In each one I let the PC idle at desktop for 1 minute, then did 1 run of Heaven Benchmark 4.0 with everything maxed (DX11, Ultra Quality, Extreme Tessellation, 8xAA). This is at stock clocks with the stock fan profile. Here's the results:

Single 1920x1080 screen, single 7970 FrozR:
Idle - 34C
Maximum during Heaven - 69C
Heaven score 900, 35.7FPS

5760x1080 (with 1600x1200 extended monitor), single 7970 FrozR:
Idle - 43C
Maximum during Heaven - 70C
Heaven score 392, 15.6FPS

Single 1920x1080 screen, Crossfire 7970 FrozR & 7970 with Accelero (also at 1050/1375):
Idle (FrozR) - 36C
Maximum during Heaven - 78C
Heaven score 1771, 70.3FPS

5760x1080 (with 1600x1200 extended monitor), Crossfire 7970 FrozR & 7970 with Accelero (also at 1050/1375):
Idle (FrozR) - 49C
Maximum during Heaven - 79C
Heaven score 732, 29.1FPS

Add in a little overclock (1050/1500) and I'm not too surprised that I was seeing averages of 81C while playing Just Cause 2 last night across the three screens.

Thanks to TwsT and Nile at OCUK I swapped the card.

The replacement peaks at 73C in Valley with the fans at about 50% which is much better than the original card.

I just slung a Sapphire boost 7950 into me daughter's pc with a 2500K at 4.2, and it defaults to 1.25v, a bit high I thought, so I set it to 1.175v, o/c the card to 1100mhz on the core, ram at stock, power to 20 using "trix" and its well stable with no probs in all benchies and games and compares the same scorewise with my own pc with an MSI 7950 frozr III and i5 ivy clocked to the same 4.2ghz.
