So AMC have announced that in 2015 there will be a spin off TV series.

Now not much is known at the moment, but from what has been put on the internet it looks like it's going to be a blank canvas and in no way linked to the comics and be another view of the zombie outbreak.

So what are peoples thoughts? Too much? I'm excited to see what they do with it, but I fear without the excellent source material it could just be a bit naff.

AMC president Charlie Collier explains that the decision to green light a new show was “literally a no-brainer.”We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

Zombie stuff is big business at the moment so it makes sense for them to do it, Walking Dead is done well so hopefully will be good.

It certainly has the potential to be even better as they will be free of the restrictions of the comics, so they can literally go in any direction without people always comparing differences... Be nice if they can use feedback from Walking Dead to develop it.

Hopefully we'll see more of the outbreak stuff. I'd like to see background stories, such as a close-up look at the scene where Shane and Lori were watching aircraft bomb a city.

It will most likely be the rise of the governor, theres 3 books about it, first book is good, second not so great and third is about to be released

AND

Read the comics, so much better then the TV series

I would love to see it follow a different person each week showing them as a Zombie at first then the episode being a flash back of what happened to them during the outbreak and how they turned.

Would be very sad but awesome! :)

Going off this rapidly, nowhere near as good as the comics or the game.

Agreed. The 2nd season was awful, and the 3rd one started off well and then went rapidly downhill then off a cliff with the pathetic finale.

*SPOILER*
And what the hell happened to Lori's skeleton? There is no way 1 zombie could have eaten all of her and they can't chew bones.

It will be called "The Running Dead" And instead of the Zombies walking they RUN

What an original premise!... I should copyright that.. :D

But seriously if it is as boring as some of the episodes of TWD I wish they wont bother.

He hid them under the work bench... ;)

this!

Have had the TWD for the "aftermath" for the last 3 seasons, now show the before and during please!

Those flashback scenes were fantastic.

If it's good, it'll get watched. Hopefully it is as I still maintain that the Walking Dead isn't gritty enough, and often verges on corny and boring.

soap opera with zombie side plot not good enough for you?

to safe
to much guns
to much ammo
not enough improvised weapons
no one ever seems to be in much real danger
often unbelievable and illogical

The Walking Dead last season (I barley remember the second season) was just so boring. They did nothing. An entire episode consisted of 'went there had a look >insert filler<'

Such a shame after the potential of the first season. The actions of the characters just made you think how lazy the script writers had become.

A fresh start with new characters would certainly be on my list of programs to watch, but it be with a high dose of cynicism.

Really not a fan of spin-off shows airing concurrently with the main one. It can work but more often than not you just end up with too much of the same thing.

+1 I love the actual outbreak stuff. I find the 'surviving in a post apocalyptic' world to be kinda boring. I prefer the action. Armies fighting to control zombies, mass panic etc. World War Z was OK for this but I'm not a fan of 'fast zombies' that much.

more zombies so cant complain, would love as suggested above to see things from the zombies pov.... well at least every now and then! and from the military pov.

Hopefully crossovers galore also.
