The brilliant Louis CK hits the nail on the head again....
...but which side are you on? The 'Of course' or the 'But maybe'? I tend to find myself convinced more by the 'but maybe' arguments, but only a little.
The problem I find with the 'of course' crowd is that they think they can hold the moral integrity of that side whilst weirdly assuming the clearly greater outcome of the 'but maybe' side will still prevail.
I think his last comment on choosing between living like the Amish and having smart phones is particularly poignant, yet one overlooked by many [so-called] left-wing 'intellectuals' [cough..cough..elmarko...cough...).
I was reminded of the above skit whilst reading the thread on a Muslim family being given champagne as compensation for a non-halal meat-filled pasty at Morrisons. My immediate opinion was "Of course we should respect people's personal beliefs and customs and make reasonable adjustments to cater for them....but maybe...if you believe eating meat not slaughtered in a manner described by a thousand year old book will send you to hell whilst conforming to the rule will guarantee you 72 virgins in heaven and that society should respect that point of view, then maybe you're a bit wacko"
