Just wandering if anyone could point out the easiest and safest method of buying some bitcoins. I think I understand the process but googling it brings up so much different info its hard to get a recent/relevant answer.

What is the best method, exhange rates, websites etc?

Also any wallet reccomendations?

Many thanks

https://localbitcoins.com to but them but don;t leave coins on there unless you enable the authentication security layers thing

and yes I have bought coins there

always via bank transfer but make sure the person has enabled escrow if should tell you when you click send trade request just cancel if they don't
usually I have the coins within an hour at the most. more often than not within 5-10minutes.

It might not be the cheapest but it seems the fastest way with a uk bank

The best way to do it is is to invent a time machine and go back four years to a time when they were less obviously a nonsense currency. You can then sell them to people like you and make a fortune.

some thing's you can only buy with bitcoins they have a value because of that.

BTW there is also https://mtgox.com/ which is likely the biggest btc exchange but afaik they n olonger have a uk bank so transfers take days

local bitcoins is cheaper than the mtgox average exchange price by 6-8+ depending on how much £ your spending on them
btw with local bit coins set it to the UK and not your local area unless you are buying them with cash and meeting in person

make sure you take note of the limit's in GBP for example
77 - 965 GBP
means he will only accept trades larger than £77 and up to £965 at the maximum

bitcoins is a literally worthless activity now unless you're already established from about 4 years ago and/or have a healthy interest in counterfeit goods, drugs, guns, medicines and other dubious items.

If you are a massive computer geek - and most are, even the criminals - then the above won't stop you wasting your time and money trying to harvest something which even in its heydey (I use the term loosely) was a joke.

mining is worthless but they hold there value based on what you can buy with them like any currency

Buffoon (bitcoin on autocorrect :D) mining is the one that gets me. It conjures up images of what the 7 dwarves went off to do :p

Thanks for the info will check out localbitcoins again.

Also can anyone recommend a good wallet?

Not really interested in the debate over mining/trading/etc just where I can get a few securely at a good rate ideally online.

you can use localbitcoins as a wallet as I said but make sure you enable 2 layer security protection thingy.

it's like with wow etc how you get a code on your smartphone app that you have to enter when you login

DO NOT BUY BITCOINS THINKING THEY WILL BE AN INVESTMENT UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO BUY SOMETHING WITH THEM IT IS STUPID TO BUY THEM

Like fiat currency is a joke.

Ah thanks I see what you mean.

I will not be buying them as an investment.

How many coins are you after?

2 or 3 I think.

They are useless unless you're interested in something illegal. Torrent/NZB sites, Silk Road, etc.
