The Official Pro Evolution soccer 2014

According to Adam Bhatti digital downloads will be available on the day of release, no details on where but expect it on Steam.

They have released a trailer on the 11 v 11 online mode. It is unfortunately just team play, but a step in the right direction none the less.

Nice find not brought a pes game since 2011 looking forward to this lets hope steam put it up a day earlier.

For anyone that's still yet to commit, I highly recommend waiting for a demo (or at the very least playing the demo on consoles) before investing in this game.

It is not good, and it pains me to say that as a die hard Pro Evo fan. Can only assume it's the focus on the new engine that has resulted in one of the worst looking Pro Evos ever, relative to its time of release. I know PES isn't a graphical showpiece even on pc, but I've never before got the impression I'm looking at PS2 quality assets in HD. That's what it feels like looking at PES 2014.

Gameplay I know is by far the most important, important enough that the graphics could quite literally be PS2 quality and I'd play it if the gameplay is good enough, but I'm not enjoying that either. It's way too early to know for sure, but I am not getting the sense that even when I'm used to the feel of the game, I'm going to suddenly start loving it.

I don't see this as a game that anyone is going to love, at best it will be tolerated as a first iteration of the new engine that hopefully will be improved upon n the next couple versions. That's the one saving grace for the series, the potential is there, but the reality just does not match as it stands.

What a letdown. All this talk of new engine on pc, game looks and play's like it is 5+ years old :(

Your loss.

As a game of football, it feels more natural than anything I have played for a while.

Kudos to the team, you have a created a great game of football.

The pace has been slowed down, goalkeepers actually save stuff and the ball and players feel "real".

No stupid instant turns and the like, ball not glued to feet etc.

Apparently demo out tomo on PC, will have to see then. it does look very good. WTF have Konami done with the faces though. They look worse than on PES 13.

No stupid turns?? No turns of any description more like, if your striker gets the ball played into his feet and has a defender tight behind him, you're pretty much screwed. The number of unnecessary animations the game wil have your players go through is beyond ridiculous, by the time you've brought the ball under control, chosen which way to go, chances are the ball will have been taken off you before the animations complete. The close control modifier is also useless, it will have you dancing around with the ball in a way you would basically never see a footballer do, rather than do anything remotely productive with it.

I do get the point about the games allowing stupidly close control in the past, the most extreme example I can think of is Pro Evo 4, it's my all time favourite, but I'd still have to admit the kind of control and instant turns you can produce are way in excess of anything that is realistically possible. PES 2014 is too far in the other direction, the simple fact is the very best football players can and do control and move the ball quickly and in tight spaces on a regular basis, it's what makes them the best. A game that finds a way to replicate this is by no means unrealistic, but to me a game where you have RvP, a 95 rated striker, turning like an absolute tank, it's just not fun or realistic. Sure, it's going to force a more passing and teamwork focussed style of play, which is not a bad thing in itself, but I want the option to choose that style of play, I don't want to have to do it because the game forces me.

Each to their own, I am still invested in the series and absolutely want the game to sell well enough that we get another next year, but I can't back the game on name alone. I backed 11, 12 and to a lesser extent 13 because they were quality games, for me 14 will have to be a case of hopefully they'll come up with something better next year.

That is a fair assessment Wedgie.

Personally, I like the gameplay direction the control commands.

I think the star players can still do the business, I just need to learn how to control them.

I am glad the pace has been slowed down for once, too many releases in recent years have had too fast gameplay, not much time to think when you can run from one end of the pitch to the other in a totally unrealistic time on a regular basis.

The reason for no PC demo is pathetic.

@Adam_Bhatti
Finally, told we couldn't do PC demo because last year it was hacked, and licenses were revealed that had to be kept secret. Sorry everyone.

Will PES 2014 be available on Steam®?

For the release of PES 2014, KONAMI is working very hard to make our products more and more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. To this end, PES 2014 will be available via Steam® and other online services from the official release date!

Konami are a joke.

They try to cover their tracks without even explaining.

The biggest digital distribution channel and they fluff it. Wrong priorities.

i think you are playing PES 13 not PES 14 because all that you describe negetive about this game is not apparent in PES14.

This game doesnt FORCE you to play a certain style!
I just played a load of online and offline matches where in some matches i played to your description ie a slow passing game, while others i played a fast pace counter attacking game and at both occasions i won/loss games.

My point?

You are not forced to play a certain way. You can play whatever style you like if it can beat the opponent.

In regars to animations. i disagree. If you hate the animations then dont bother with fifa as well because that game has lots of animations too.

Past PES games many complained about lack of animations. Now they make lots of animations that matches if not adds more then fifa and people like you still complain?

Cant have it both ways.

The animations are relevant and realistic. You still play one touch football or shoot first time but like real life it depends on how your player is position relative to receiving the ball.

As i have pointed out, i dont know what game you are playing but it seems you are playing a vastly different one then i am!

The game does look good in action to be fair, but that video highlights one of my other big issues with it. 21:14, the ball played over the top to Tevez, in on goal surely? Nope, not in PES 2014, that will happen almost every time you have a ball played over and by all rights should be in on goal with an easy chance to finish.

Had another few games before and it's really starting to annoy me now. The turning cycles, they're a joke. One of the biggest problems I've had with FIFA for a long time is they do the same thing, needless animations for every turn, which means you have to plan well in advance where you're going, and hope you're lucky enough to pull it off before you get tackled. The reason I never got annoyed with it in FIFA was it felt like a way of doing things that just wasn't for me, so I didn't play the game. Here, it actually feels like I'm getting mugged off every single time, in so many cases the game is going to be cheap to stop you doing things that the devs have obviously decided are being exploited. Cut back goals - nope, the pass will be screwed up 9 times out of 10. Beating players - nope, unless you get very familiar with the tricks system, you have no chance. Through on goal - well we can't have that, have to give a speed boost to a defender or make the control so horrible that the attacker slows enough to be caught easily.

Unless I have a massive turnaround over the next few days, I'm gonna leave it here. People like the game, I'm glad that there's people that like it, and I don't intend to be the guy that does nothing but post to **** on the game. This one is not for me, but I shall be back for PES 2015. Don't let me down again :D.

I've only played around 8 games so far ........ all of them with Everton, against similar ability teams.

Maybe it plays differently with better teams but from my observations so far I'd have to say I agree with Wedgie far more than Jonney.

Players are unresponsive and often lose you the ball through the game not responding to your actions in time. I often hold down the run button to do a short dash but the computer makes my player knock the ball on twice, rather than once, even though my finger came off the sprint button way before. You end up losing possession due to bad game mechanics rather than lack of skill half the time.

Defending is worse than last year. Less precise and less intuitive.

Selecting players to make runs is more awkward than last year. Why change it from just flicking your right stick, which worked perfectly before.

The game tries stopping you from creating chances, scoring, from positions which are dangerous in real football.

Player switching is worse than last year.

I play on full manual but passes aren't fully manual unless you use the LB to make them.

The game was too easy to make chances in last year and exploit through balls etc but rather than balance it they've gone way too far the other way and made the game feel inhibitive.

It's lost the fun of PES 2013, and that game had it's faults but it was exciting to play.

I hope I'm wrong and something clicks with the game for me but as it stands it feel like a bit of a mess of a game, resulting from Konami having to implement it on a new engine within a limited time frame.

it is abit bad :-(
the controls dont seem right, played about 5 games with barcelona and messi does not seem to be controlled correctly.mybe its just me having come from fifa 13 to this. i do love the pes series,my last one was 2010 and that was shocking.
well anyway when you have the ball and pushing on the thumbstick,it feels like he is twinkle toeing and does not run correctly(without using the sprint button) i will give it afew more games,i need to like it it cost me £20 lol

forgot to mention!
what about the dirty kits KONAMI said??? not seen any yet!!!!!

i agree the player switching is terrible i give you that but i still cant agree with player responsiveness and even AI.

i had an amazing game agains Bayern leverkusan while i was vilareal. They defended superbly and created some great chances. i created a few and missed some sitters but that was all down to me and not the game cheating me.

they beat me 2:0 by two sloppy goals i myself gifted to them by my own fault.

I am yet to play with any of the top sides so again i disagree with your opinion that many of the responsiveness and poor defending is due to the team you are playing.

The dash button for me only makes the player knock the ball once not twice like you. maybe it depends on players stats.

Dont forget, PLayer stats play a large role in this game so you cant expect an everton player to have the same responsivness and skill as Messi or Ronaldo.

This is not Fifa where stats dont mean much im afraid.
