BTW most people think they never put a foot wrong until fate puts a foot in - most of us grow out of it in our teens though.

to me it's as bad as those women who let go of the buggy/pram to do something on a hill and it rolls into the road or down a hill.. (loads of them on youtube)

if the baby died as a result I would say it was her fault just as much as this airport woman.

It is such a stupid thing to do you would have to be almost braindead to take your eyes off the child

Read carefully everyone. It was the separate heavy baggage conveyer, not one of the main baggage reclaim ones. They are very short and usually at a separate desk and move quite fast.

Seems like she placed the infant there whilst doing something else and too late to notice the carry cot had disappeared.

Stupid yes, deliberate no, imprisionment no

It was a tragic accident that will live with her and her family forever.

The airport will undoubtably be forced to review the safety of these belts. The belt should have been switched off at the terminal whilst unattended and obviously was not.

Yes that's exactly what i'm saying, It doesn't take much to do it and it's not that ****ing hard!! and certainly you don't have to be a perfect human being not to kill someone

1) Oh i filled in the wrong cell in the excel sheet and now the numbers are screwed - Mistake, anyone can make
2) Oh i just killed my own baby by putting it somewhere i shouldn't have in the first place - retarded idiotic brain dead low IQ mother, not everyone will make this mistake

You really have a black/white perspective. You know absolutely NOTHING about the mother other than she is a US mother, and yet somehow have come to an amazing judgement about her. She is at fault, but we know hardly anything about this tragedy, so please stop acting like you do.

All people make mistakes, that doesn't mean that they should be swept under the carpet or not highlighted. In this case, the mother made a stupid decision, not a mistake, and while I am not calling for her to be prosecuted or anything like that, the blame can only fall in one place and that should be made clear whenever it is being discussed.
 
I'm confused. By luggage carousel we are talking about the big moving platforms that constantly move and bring your luggage out to you having got off a plane? Or do we mean the ones where you are about to check your luggage in and get it weighed? Either way, why was the child "crushed to death" on "rollers"? Would this not crush other luggage and bags? A baby carrier is not much bigger/taller than a lot of luggage. I don't really understand how this happened. Are the tolerances so fine that only certain sizes of luggage will fit through and any larger will get ripped to shreds?

Anyway... what a tragedy. Poor family. Just an accident. Nothing more. People talking of prosecution are just trolling.

dad who was speeding and crashed his car, which killed his son. he is in jail now. so they do actually hammer parents for accidental deaths of kids.

Mum who put her baby down for a min.

They should prosecute if she did it intentionally but it's very much an accident here, making a mistake which lead to her own flesh and blood dying is not the same as intentionally doing something illegal to cause harm to herself and/or child(ren).

well, if thats the purpose then why do they hardly ever try to rehabilitate anyone? most are just locked in a cell for x months.

sure, some like paedos are given some rehab but thats a tiny minority.
