Hi guys. im in dire need of some help.

here is the story from start to finish.

on the 26th of April 2013, i opened a sandwich shop, took out gas and electric with British gas. this was all OK. i get a phone call from Npower sometime around back end of june. they said they could do it cheaper on the electric side of it.
so as you do... i went ahead with it.

i hadn't received a bill for my electric until today. and the bill has come through at just short of £1000 since 8july to 6sep.

now you might think well that sounds about right etc etc depending what im using.

well nothing has changed electricial in my shop since i opened. but yet, the first 2 months with british gas didnt come to more than £200 for 2 months.

so how can Npower see a bill of £1000 for 3 months, when british gas was only £200 for 2 months ?

can anyone advise me on what to do please., i rang them and they come out with a load of ******** like, i have to pay for a electrician to come and test my shop bla bla bla... but i cant afford to be spending more money on someone to test my shop. (it got tested when i opened it....)

has anyone had this before with npower?, or is there any solicitors on here that can help me lol.

thanks guys!

Surely you would be checking your meter to see how many units you have used? If you are on a single tariff then check the pence per KW against what you used to pay with BG.

Npower changed my meter in 2008 and the installer got the night and day settings mixed up so i've been paying for them the wrong way around. So i've been getting cheap leccy in the day and expensive at night. Npower only just realised this but say that they can only charge me for the past year due to some regulation they have to now adhere to.

I've since changed my meter from E7 to a single standard tariff.

Yeh you need to study both bills to find the error, usuage, or unit price.

this, work out the cost and divide by units on both to give you cost per unit to get a like for like comparison. Then go to NPower with these numbers and the start the procedure of complaining.

right ok.

just found the british gas bill.

Unit charge: 168 kWh @ 11.310 pence.

Npower.

unit charge: 5,133 kWh @ 0.524 pence.
60 days @ 43.0000 pence per day.
"charges" 5,133 units @ 14.38 pence.

does this make any sense to anyone ?, because frankly, i don't have a clue.

i can provide pictures of each bill if it will help me.. (not including address in picture though, sorry peeps, no random parcels or pizzas coming to my door :D)

Thanks

That doesn't make any sense. Those Npower figures add up to about £790 and the BG about £19.

erm they seem to think that in 3months you have used 5000 Kw/h of electricity.
Do you have meter readings that would prove otherwise ?
Who takes your meter readings ?
If it is you when did you take them and what are they ?

EDIT - so we have you meter readings which are 9383 & 14516, who took those readings ?

EDIT2 - 20% VAT on utilities ????, I thought this was 5% ???

Try calling this number, 0800-9802188, it will get you straight through to one of their teams who deal with billing issues. Good luck!

they sent a guy out to take the readings lol...

im all new to this :(

I'm guessing you haven't given Npower your meter readings and those numbers int he Npower bill are based on an estimate reading. Go to your meter now and post back what the acutal number/numbers are
