Two of the new AMD GPUs would look to be better than 2x780s

I'd stick with a 4770K and a high end Z87 board myself (to retain 16x16x PCI-E 3.0). More modern platform.

Doom did an epic job there, although announcement of AMD GPU's in a few days, looks like their flagship card might/is a titan killer so maybe hold out for that and see what doom can produce then
